TL;DR: In this article, a method is applied to an intermediate gear 7 that meshes a drive gear 5 in a rotary pump mechanism 2 of trochoid type while meshes an input gear 10, to give a prescribed backlash to the meshed surfaces between a larger gear part 7b of the intermediate gear 6 and the input gear 6.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To correctly obtain a prescribed amount of backlash, by coating a backlash material on the meshed surface of a gear tooth. CONSTITUTION: When a method is applied to an intermediate gear 7 that meshes a drive gear 5 in a rotary pump mechanism 2 of trochoid type while meshes an input gear 10, to give a prescribed backlash to the meshed surfaces between a larger gear part 7b of the intermediate gear 7 and the input gear 10, firstly on the tooth surface of the intermediate gear 7 a backlash material 14 in thickness corresponding to the prescribed backlash amount is coated. Secondly the larger gear part 7b of the intermediate gear 7 is pressed to the input gear 10 to make a virtual amount of backlash to zero, and then a pump body 1 is fixed by a screw 3. When an input shaft 11 is driven to naturally remove the backlash material 14 by its wearing in the intermeshing action between the gears 10,7. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio

TL;DR: A geared pump with a variable flow rate has a pair of cup-shaped sealing elements adapted substantially to fill the spaces between adjacent teeth and slots in which the tips of the teeth of the gears are disposed as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A geared pump (10) with a variable flow rate, in which the gears (14, 16) can slide axially relative to each other, has a pair of cup-shaped sealing elements (36, 40) adapted substantially to fill the spaces between adjacent teeth and having slots (37) in which the tips of the teeth of the gears are disposed.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bidirectional planetary gear transmission has a pressurized fluid actuated friction brake assembly for selectively braking alternately the planetary gear carrier and ring gear to effect rotation of an output shaft in one direction and the opposite direction.
Abstract: The bidirectional planetary gear transmission has a pressurized fluid actuated friction brake assembly for selectively braking alternately the planetary gear carrier and ring gear to effect rotation of an output shaft in one direction and the opposite direction. A locking means is provided to hold the planetary gear carrier or ring against rotation, whichever one is associated with prolonged rotation, without maintaining braking of the pressurized fluid actuated brake assembly. Another feature is that the pressurized fluid actuated friction brake assembly has two brake sets (one coacting with the planetary gear carrier and the other with the ring gear) and a dual piston-cylinder mechanism in which the pistons are connected for conjoined reciprocation so that when one brake set is engaged, the other is automatically disengaged.

TL;DR: In this article, the sealing members of limited circumferential extent are provided in the housing at the high pressure side of the gears for the purpose of providing a fluid seal between the tips of the teeth in a limited region adjacent the opening in a housing which is at higher pressure.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to improvements in pumps and motors of the gear type. The gear elements are arranged within the pump or motor housing so that the ends or the tips of the teeth are spaced out of fluid sealing relationship and not pressed into the surrounding chamber wall on the low pressure side of the housing. According to the disclosure, sealing members of limited circumferential extent are provided in the housing at the high pressure side of the gears for the purpose of providing a fluid seal between the tips of the teeth in a limited region adjacent the opening in the housing which is at higher pressure. The sealing members disclosed are a pair of separate shoes located adjacent the high pressure opening. The sole support for the shoes is provided by the side pressure plates.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of volumetric efficiency of hydrostatic pumps in a variety of conditions is investigated by using a proposed neural network, which is capable of predicting the leakage flowrate of the experimental system.
Abstract: In this paper, an analysis of volumetric efficiency of hydrostatic pumps in a variety conditions is investigated by using a proposed neural network. The effects of the parameters, such as the number of revolution, hydraulic oil temperature and exit pressures, which act on performances of hydrostatic pumps like gear pumps, vane pumps, and axial reciprocal pumps with swash plate, on the volumetric efficiency have been examined. The revolution number of the pumps, exit pressure of the system and the hydraulic oil temperatures are greatly affected by the leakage flowrate. The neural network structure is very suitable for this kind of system. The network is capable of predicting the leakage flowrate of the experimental system. The network has a parallel structure and fast learning capacity. As it can be seen from the results for both approaches, neural network could be modeled hydrostatic pump systems in real time applications.
