18 Jul 1984TL;DR: In this paper, a gear pump with two or more independent inlets with separate flow paths through the pump is used to pump different fluids through each inlet with the fluid being either a gas or liquid or a mixture of both.
Abstract: A lubrication scavenge system for an engine bearing compartment or the like utilizing a gear pump with two or more independent inlets with separate flow paths through the pump. The inlets and flow paths are maintained separate from each other by the use of inlet and discharge seal arcs to avoid any fluid communication therebetween. The pump can operate to pump different fluids through each inlet with the fluid being either a gas or liquid or a mixture of both and with the pump continuing its pumping action when there is an instantaneous interchange in the fluid being pumped at each inlet as can occur when the engine bearing compartment is subjected to varying positive and negative gravity forces.

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-wheeled vehicle such as a bicycle includes a variable displacement fluid pump and a fixed displacement fluid motor, connected through hydraulic passages, whose eccentricity is adjustable by means of an eccentricity control means dependent upon the load acting upon the vehicle in a stepless manner.
Abstract: A two-wheeled vehicle such as a bicycle includes a variable displacement fluid pump such as a radial plunger pump provided at a crankshaft of pedals and a fixed displacement fluid motor such as a gear motor at a rear wheel or a front wheel. The fluid pump and motor are connected through hydraulic passages. Plungers of the radial plunger pump are driven by a cam assembly whose eccentricity is adjustable by means of an eccentricity control means dependent upon the load acting upon the vehicle in a stepless manner, so that the speed of the vehicle can be changed in a stepless manner. Moreover, the vehicle includes automatic speed change means which automatically change the eccentricity of the eccentric cam assembly according to hydraulic pressure of the variable displacement fluid pump, so that the speed of the vehicle can be automatically changed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered the analysis and control strategy for a direct hydraulic cylinder drive, that is over-actuated in the sense that it has more inputs than sensible outputs, and presented a state coupling analysis along with a control strategy based on state decoupling synthesized from input-output transformations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a windmill drives a fluid pump which operates a hydraulic motor, and the fluid discharge from the hydraulic motor is recirculated through a fluid reservoir, resulting from the inefficiency of the pump and the hydraulic motors, is employed for heating purposes.
Abstract: A windmill drives a fluid pump which operates a hydraulic motor. In one embodiment, the mechanical output of the hydraulic motor operates a heat pump employed for heating and/or cooling purposes. In another embodiment, the fluid discharge from the hydraulic motor is recirculated through a fluid reservoir. The heat of the fluid in the reservoir, resulting from the inefficiency of the pump and the hydraulic motor, is employed for heating purposes.
