TL;DR: In this paper, a gear tooth profile and rotors for an external-tooth type of gear pump for fluids and gases are described, and a novel type of profile for the individual teeth or lobes of a rotor which is cooperatively engaged by another rotor having...
Abstract: The invention relates to a gear tooth profile and to rotors for an external-tooth type of gear pump for fluids and gases. More particularly, the invention relates to a novel type of profile for the individual teeth or . lobes of a rotor which is cooperatively engaged by another rotor having...

01 Apr 2000TL;DR: In this article, a simple approach based on the envelope theory for deriving the geometric models of cylindrical and helical gear pumps with circular arc teeth was described, and the authors provided geometric modelling of the designed gear pump meshing when assembly errors are present.
Abstract: This paper describes a simple approach based on the envelope theory for deriving the geometric models of cylindrical and helical gear pumps with circular arc teeth. A gear pump with circular arc teeth can be easily obtained through the envelope theory for a one-parameter family of surfaces. In the process of machining a gear blank, the required rack-cutter teeth can be obtained by using the obtained cylindrical and helical gears, whose forms are easily determined by the envelope theory. Here the authors provide geometric modelling of the designed gear pump meshing when assembly errors are present. To illustrate the effectiveness of the approach, an analytical expression of cylindrical and helical gear pumps with circular arc teeth is given.

18 Sep 1970TL;DR: In this article, an internal gear pump employs plates at opposite ends of the gears with the plates normally slightly spaced from the axial end of the gear but deformable into sealing relationship with the gears in response to pressure and/or temperature.
Abstract: An internal gear pump employs plates at opposite ends of the gears with the plates normally slightly spaced from the axial ends of the gears but deformable into sealing relationship with the gears in response to pressure and/or temperature. The outer periphery of the plates is fixed to the housing and, in the preferred embodiment, the plates are bi-metallic so that as they heat they move to close the space. High pressure is communicated to the side of the plates remote from the gears so as to pressure bias the plates toward the gears. The plates provide an automatic adjustment of the running clearances as the temperature and/or pressures of the device change.

07 May 2008TL;DR: In this article, a gear pump for mixing first and second components includes an inlet port (48), a premix chamber (40), and a second component valve (80).
Abstract: A gear pump (26) for mixing first and second components includes an inlet port (48), a premix chamber (40), and a second component valve (80). The premix chamber (40) has a first end communicating with the inlet port (48), and a second end communicating with a source (28) of the first component through a valve (42), thus providing a fluid path to carry the first component through the inlet port upon operation of the gear pump. The second component valve (80) regulates fluid communication between a source of the second component and the premix chamber (40). Upon operation of the gear pump, the first component is drawn from its source (28) into the premix chamber (40), the second component is drawn from its source, through the second component valve (80), and into the premix chamber, and a premix of the first and second components is fed from the premix chamber through said inlet port (48).
