TL;DR: In this paper, a gear pump is used to separate oil from the air and returns only the separated oil to the reservoir through outlets located upstream of the mesh zone of the gears while the air is discarded.
Abstract: A method of scavenging air and oil from a component (3) of an aircraft for returning the oil to a reservoir (4) for recirculation to the component involves the use of a gear pump (1) for scavenging the oil and gas. The gear pump centrifugally separates oil from the air and returns only the separated oil to the reservoir through outlets located upstream of the mesh zone of the gears while the air is discarded whereby lower discharge pressure of the gear pump is attained and there is no longer a need for a separate air-oil separator.

TL;DR: A gear pump or motor includes a housing having an 8-shaped chamber, a pair of meshed gears in the chamber and ports opening into the chamber on opposite sides of the zone of mesh of the gears as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A gear pump or motor includes a housing having an 8-shaped chamber, a pair of meshed gears in the chamber and a pair of ports opening into the chamber on opposite sides of the zone of mesh of the gears. The teeth of the gears have on their non-working flanks relieved portions adjacent the tip and the root of the tooth which are arranged to leave an unrelieved land across the entire non-working flank.

TL;DR: In this article, an improved gear change mechanism is provided for semi-automatically selecting a change up or change down gear change, which includes a shaft (31) which is movable in its axial direction and about its axis to make one such movement or a combination of such movements according to the gear to be selected.
Abstract: An improved gear change mechanism is provided for semi-automatically selecting a change up or change down gear change. The mechanism includes a shaft (31) which is movable in its axial direction and about its axis to make one such movement or a combination of such movements according to the gear to be selected. The shaft (31) is moved by pistons (36, 37) coaxial with the shaft for the axial movement and a piston (46) at a right angle to the shaft for the rotational movement. In practice the axial movement is a translating movement and the rotary movement is a movement into and out of engagement with the gears. Throttle and clutch control functions are also provided so that a gear change is initiated and brought about by switches (19A and 19B).

TL;DR: In this article, an in-tank motor-pump unit includes a motor driven gear pump, a pressure transducer and a control module as a single integrated package establishing fuel flow at a constant pressure by creating a pulse-modulated motor drive having a fixed "off" and a variable "on" period.
Abstract: An in-tank motor-pump unit includes a motor driven gear pump, a pressure transducer, and a control module as a single integrated package establishing fuel flow at a constant pressure by creating a pulse-modulated motor drive having a fixed "off" and a variable "on" period. A permanent magnet DC motor drives a rotary pump with the required torque operating over the specified speed range and without stalling out at low flow demand. An integrated circuit board includes an IC timing chip, operating in an astable mode, has an input connected to the transducer and an output connected to a MOSFET switch which connects the motor to a power supply. A series resistor connects an amplified voltage signal of the transducer to charge the capacitor and discharge resistor separately connects the capacitor to the input of the timing chip to generate a constant "off" period and a variable operative "on" period of the MOSFET. A slight recycle fuel flow is established with substantially equal "on" and "off" periods at substantially zero fuel flow.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and apparatus for metering and pumping multicomponents of high and low viscosity materials and subsequently mixing and applying the mixture includes gear pumps for pumping each component.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for metering and pumping multicomponents of high and low viscosity materials and subsequently mixing and applying the mixture includes gear pumps for pumping each component Each gear pump has gears operating in a gear housing for receiving and pumping one of the components The gear pumps are simultaneously driven at a predetermined speed and each gear pump is designed to pump a predetermined amount of its respective components, at the predetermined speed Flexible hoses connect the pumps to an applicator Check valves are used to maintain the pressure in these hoses when the pumps are in their at-rest position The gear pumps may be driven at the same rotational speed but are designed to pump a predetermined amount of the different materials so that the ratio of materials can be precisely set
