TL;DR: In this article, a dual pumping element fluid system for an engine or other system which reduces the driving power consumption by unloading one pumping element through the use of recirculation when a fluid pressure target value is achieved.
Abstract: A dual pumping element fluid system for an engine or other system which reduces the driving power consumption by unloading one pumping element through the use of recirculation when a fluid pressure target value is achieved. A cross-over port fluid system prevents cavitation of the unloaded pump. A pressure-activated flow control valve mechanism is utilized to open and close the passageways from the secondary pump. The fluid system works in conjunction with an engine balance shaft system to control gear rattle at low speeds without adding undue gear loads at high speeds.

TL;DR: In this article, a variable displacement hydraulic motor that is fluidly connected to at least the first fluid volume is used to produce electrical power that is stored in a power storage system.
Abstract: Engineers are constantly seeking methods to reduce undesirable emissions, noise, and vibrations created by power systems. In the present invention, a power system includes at least one hydraulic cylinder that defines a first fluid volume and a second fluid volume separated from one another via a moveable plunger. Hydraulic power created within the hydraulic cylinder is converted to mechanical energy by a variable displacement hydraulic motor that is fluidly connected to at least the first fluid volume. A generator is attached to the variable displacement hydraulic motor, and produces electrical power that is stored in a power storage system. The stored power can be supplied to an electric motor that is operable to power a hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump supplies hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic cylinder. The power system of the present invention is a relatively efficient alternative to a power system including a diesel engine that can be a source of undesirable emissions, noise and vibrations.

TL;DR: In this article, an electrically actuated parking brake system and actuator (102) is described, and various configurations are provided for isolating actuator components for controlling audible noise, including sub-frame isolation configurations, motor isolation configurations and gear train isolation configurations.
Abstract: An electrically actuated parking brake system and actuator (102) therefor. The actuator (102) includes a motor (200) having a drive shaft, and a gear train coupled to the drive shaft, wherein the gear train provides at least one mechanical output from the actuator (102). The gear train may include a drive gear (202) coupled to the drive shaft, a driven gear (204) coupled to the drive gear (202), and a planetary gear set (206) coupled to the driven gear (204). Various configurations are provided for isolating actuator components for controlling audible noise, including sub-frame isolation configurations, motor isolation configurations, and gear train isolation configurations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a variable speed hydraulic pump is designed to operate at a maximum horsepower throughout its pressure range by adjusting motor speed according to motor load parameters, which is dependent on the load exerted on the motor.
Abstract: The invention provides a variable speed hydraulic pump designed to operate at a maximum horsepower throughout its pressure range by adjusting motor speed according to motor load parameters. In particular, the variable speed hydraulic pump includes a hydraulic pump unit coupled to a variable speed electric motor by a drive unit and to a hydraulic fluid tank for pressurizing and pumping hydraulic fluid when operated by the motor. A motor controller is electrically connected to the motor to supply drive signals to the motor based on electrical characteristics of the drive signals which are dependent on the load exerted on the motor. Suction from the load is provided by both the main pump and a bidirectional supercharging pump by reversing the direction of the motor and shifting a 4/3 valve to connect the main pump inlet to the load and its outlet to tank. In addition, the controller reduces the motor speed at the maximum rated pressure to just maintain the pressure, to reduce the amount of fluid pumped through the maximum pressure relief valve.
