Abstract: A gear shaper or shaver cutter which has broken or damaged teeth is salvaged by removing good teeth from an identical cutter which is otherwise unsalvagable. The removal of damaged teeth from the salvagable cutter, and removal of good teeth from the unsalvagable cutter, is done by electrical discharge machining (EDM) wire. The good teeth are removed as an integral group which is snugly fitted into and plugs the slot where the damaged teeth were removed from the salvageable cutter. The group is locked in place by a lock pin in an aperture made by EDM electrode procedure, the lock pin being welded in place by electron beam welding, and or any other suitable state of the art.

Abstract: 1. A gear shaping machine by the generating process or a hob cutter comprising electronically controlled, separate drives for moving the tool (10) and the workpiece (14) to be machined, said movement being superimposed on a plurality of axes, the drive of the workpiece being readjusted in accordance with the actual position values of the tool, characterized in that a modular control computer system integrated into the machine and comprising a plurality of processors (MPST) is provided that consists of at least one processor (18) for organizing the access to the data bus (BUS), a processor (22) for coupling the rolling movement between the shaping wheel (10) and the work wheel (14), said processor readjusting the rotating position and speed of the clamping table (12) at least every 5 ms to the actual position of the shaping spindle, and a processor (24) for regulating the linear axes and other additional axes as well as the radial feed motion and run-off control of the lifting ram, the access of the processor (22) for the rolling coupling to the actual position values of the relative angular positions of the shaping and work wheels at predetermined time intervals being ensured in that the access to the data bus (BUS) is requested with a lead time which is longer than the longest time during which the data bus is used by the other processors (18, 24).

TL;DR: In this paper, a mechanism gradually adjusts a moving amount in both end parts as compared with the axially central position of the machined rack, which can be used to perform gear cutting of a rack even with a shaft angle except 90 degrees.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily perform gear cutting of a rack even with a shaft angle except 90 deg in a shaping machine performing gear cutting of the rack, by providing a mechanism gradually adjusting a moving amount in both end parts as compared with a moving amount of the axially central position of the machined rack CONSTITUTION:A machined rack 2 is fixed onto a table 11 to set a slope for a saddle 25 of a table mount 15 to a desired angle, and then a cutter 1 is driven in rotary reciprocating motion by a motor 3, simultaneously a feed screw shaft 14 is rotated through a worm 12a to linearly move the table 11 to the direction of an arrow head D Further a generating ratio converting cam 22 is rotated by rotary motion of a center shaft 13, and a cam follower 23 is moved to the direction of the arrow head D by a lift amount of the cam 22, then the screw shaft 14 is linearly moved to the same direction In this way, the table 11 is linearly moved by a correction moving amount of increasing or decreasing the moving amount from the cam 22 for the moving amount from rotation of the worm 12a, and the rack with a shaft angle except 90 deg can be easily performed gear cutting
