Abstract: Gear shaping, a widely used machining method for circular gears, was generalized to noncircular gears in recent works using a 3-linkage machine tool. As the pitch curve normals of noncircular gears change constantly in processing, angles may exist between the pitch curve normals and the cutter relieving direction, bringing in turn cutter retracting interference. Regarding this, the paper proposes a 4-linkage shaping method. Through linkage motion of 4 machine tool axes, noncircular gear pitch normals are along the cutter relieving direction, avoiding completely cutter retracting interference. On such basis, a mathematical model is first established, the cutting process is then discussed and a cutting experiment is finally carried out, proving the validity of the proposed method.

Abstract: The utility model relates to a positioning device for a flange during gear shaping. The positioning device comprises a positioning disc, wherein a positioning spigot is formed in the upper part of the positioning disc; the flange is placed in the positioning spigot; a chip discharge groove and U-shaped grooves are formed in the middle and two sides of the positioning disc; a press block is fixed with the flange through an inverted-T-shaped groove bolt. The positioning device has the benefits as follows: the flange is positioned and clamped on the positioning disc, so that the flange is more stable and reliable during shaping, the phenomenon of gear disorder caused by jumping of the flange is well eliminated, meanwhile, clamping and aligning time spent on the flange is also shortened, and the machining efficiency and the machining quality are greatly improved.
