TL;DR: A brief literature review was conducted on multicultural orientations and global leadership effectiveness in the 21st century as mentioned in this paper, and it was found that multicultural learning experiences and communication skills, deep self-awareness, multiple intelligences and sensitivity to cultural diversity, humility, cautious honesty, global strategic thinking and good negotiating skills are necessary to navigate in the midst of volatilities, uncertainties, complexities and ambiguities.
Abstract: Multicultural orientation is an important focus area in developing managers for international assignments. This chapter extends the frontier of knowledge on the benefits of developing multicultural orientations in line with business and stakeholders’ needs in the global economy. A brief literature review was conducted on multicultural orientations and global leadership effectiveness in the 21st century. It was found that multicultural learning experiences and communication skills, deep self-awareness, multiple intelligences and sensitivity to cultural diversity, humility, cautious honesty, global strategic thinking and good negotiating skills are necessary in the 21st century. The managerial relevance of this chapter centres on further research and development of global psychological capital, vertical development of bigger minds and multiple intelligences to navigate in the midst of volatilities, uncertainties, complexities and ambiguities in the 21st century.

TL;DR: A critical analysis of the challenges and opportunities on the pathway to India's journey towards becoming a global leader in knowledge economy with respect to the four pillars as defined by the Knowledge Assessment Model of the World Bank, namely, economic and institutional regime, education, information and communication technology, and innovation.
Abstract: India, along with some of the other middle low income countries like Brazil, Russia, China and the Republic of Korea is competing with high income developed nations like USA and Japan in the knowledge sector. India has to its advantage a big pool of knowledge workers like scientists, engineers, and researchers available at low cost. The pertinent question is whether the flow of knowledge has resulted in inclusive growth. This research paper is a critical analysis of the challenges and opportunities on the pathway to India's journey towards becoming a global leader in knowledge economy with respect to the four pillars as defined by the Knowledge Assessment Model (KAM) of the World Bank, namely, economic and institutional regime, education, information and communication technology, and innovation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on the role of the state in promoting a country's long-term technological progress and industrial leadership and explore various factors that promote or hinder technological advancement and how these can in turn effect national development.
Abstract: This book focuses on the role of the state in promoting a country's long-term technological progress and industrial leadership. Throughout history, a nation's rise to dominance has invariably been followed by its fall; the dominant powers of today are not the same ones that controlled the world three hundred years ago. In the same manner, economic dominance has usually been fleeting, as leading nations have routinely been caught up and surpassed by challengers. This study looks at Schumpeterian growth - currently the most important source of economic growth - which credits the ability to use technological progress for the benefit of industrial leadership as the key motor of national development and economic success. Contrasting the experiences of five great powers (Britain, France, Germany, the USA and Japan) during five periods of technological and industrial leadership, from the Industrial Revolution to the beginning of the twenty-first century, the book draws on historical and comparative methods to draw causal inferences about international progress and leadership. It explores various factors that promote or hinder technological advancement and how these can in turn effect national development. It concludes that where states have forged ahead and maintained a lead over their rivals, it is because consensus and cohesion prevented vested interests from growing powerful enough to block structural economic change. By applying economic theory to long-term historical models, this book offers a fascinating perspective on the causes and effects of national growth and industrial leadership. It will be invaluable reading for anyone with an interest in international relations and global economic trends, both modern and historical.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors address the third research question: What is the relationship between the individual global mindset and criteria for leadership effectiveness, and the expected relationships are presented in a research model.
Abstract: In the preceding chapters, we examined what a global mindset is and how it can be measured by formulating two research questions. We addressed these research questions in Chapters 4 and 5, respectively, based on an extensive literature study as described in Chapters 2 and 3. In this chapter, we address the third research question: What is the relationship between the individual global mindset and criteria for leadership effectiveness ? As in the previous studies, we aim to answer the third research question empirically. For this, we conducted a second quantitative field study to explore the relationship between global mindset and its outcomes. As we had identified the concept of a global mindset by interviewing managers with global responsibilities, we also wanted to measure the outcomes in terms of leadership effectiveness in a sample of managers working in a globalizing company. We also retested the relationship between personal and person-in-job factors and the global mindset concept to gain a better understanding of the process through which one adopts a global mindset. The expected relationships are presented in a research model.
