Abstract: This essay reflects on over two decades of developing global leaders while simultaneously studying global leadership phenomena. Global leadership is leading across contexts. Because the contexts of global business continuously evolve, so too must our understanding of global leadership and our research about it. When research and practice inform each other in constant iteration, we can develop knowledge that is robust and relevant, and identify emerging ideas that shape future knowledge and practice. The essay suggests that exceptional, high-impact global leaders demonstrate two characteristics in addition to the competences and qualities identified in most research. Self-acceptance is an internal orientation, an acknowledgement of one’s own strengths, weaknesses, and reasons for leading. It underlies the ability to manage the impact of one’s self on others, and creates a leadership space for empowerment of others. Community transcendence is an external orientation, an acknowledgement of the primacy of local for creating meaning in business and work. It enables a leader to take on a local identity and create a leadership space for the community to succeed through the global organization. The essay concludes with speculation on the future importance of these two qualities.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors determined the relationship between the cultural codes of countries and the level of innovation of the countries and which culture diversity raises or lowers the levels of innovation in the countries.
Abstract: Innovation, known as producing new, more ergonomic and useful products, processes, production inputs, and even new organizational structures and markets, has become a crucial factor in sustainable global competitiveness. One of the important predictors of the level of innovation of countries is culture, which is a unique element that distinguishes a society from others and reveals its differences. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the cultural codes of the countries and the level of innovation of the countries and which culture diversity raises or lowers the level of innovation of the countries. For this purpose, cultural dimensions and innovation scores of the 62 countries included in the Globe Project and Global Innovation Indices were consolidated and then analyzed. As a result of the correlations and regression analyzes, the four main cultural dimensions that have the greatest impact on the Global Innovation Indexes of the countries (collectivism societal practices in-group collectivism, human orientation, collectivism societal practices and performance orientation).

TL;DR: The need for coordination and integration of human benefit knowledge, as well as application in policy, continues to grow Numerous warnings of a serious global pandemic have gone unheeded, and COVID-19 has spread across the world, mishandled by many political leaders as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: The need for coordination and integration of human benefit knowledge, as well as application in policy, continues to grow Numerous warnings of a serious global pandemic have gone unheeded, and COVID-19 has spread across the world, mishandled by many political leaders But the coronavirus may provide a possible pathway to effectively addressing the broader problems of human security and sustainability Many isolated reports on COVID-19 have been published, but their impact is unknown Leadership to deal with the pandemic requires breaking information silos, engaging stakeholders, and creating a "spider web structure" to coordinate efforts for ending or containing the virus Assembling leaders associated with many of these COVID reports, with the explicit purpose of learning what works and what does not, what is being done and might be done, and how to improve outreach, could provide a valuable case study of a transformative knowledge system If successful, similar roundtables could be arranged for those concerned with the broader realm of health security, and the still broader concepts of the Sustainable Development Goals and/or Sustainable Human Security In an era of "truth decay," however, transforming knowledge systems and promoting effective global leadership will not be easy [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] Copyright of Cadmus is the property of Risk Institute and its content may not be copied or emailed to multiple sites or posted to a listserv without the copyright holder's express written permission However, users may print, download, or email articles for individual use This abstract may be abridged No warranty is given about the accuracy of the copy Users should refer to the original published version of the material for the full abstract (Copyright applies to all Abstracts )
