TL;DR: In this article, maleic anhydride (MAnh) was used to copolymerize tri-O-acetyl, tri-o-benzyl-, tri-obenezyl-D-glucal derivatives with MAnh to afford novel vinyl copolymers containing sugar residues in the main chain.
Abstract: Tri-O-acetyl-, tri-O-benzyl-, tri-O-methyl-D-glucal were copolymerized with maleic anhydride (MAnh) to afford novel vinyl copolymers containing sugar residues in the main chain. Tri-O-benzyl-D-glucal (TBG) showed higher copolymerization reactivity with MAnh than the other glucal derivatives. The copolymerization of TBG and MAnh was carried out at various monomer feed ratios to give the copolymers always rich in MAnh units. Both the complex and penultimate models could explain the compositional data, but the analysis of the copolymerization rate suggested the participation of the CT complex in the propagation.

TL;DR: An efficient method for the conversion of 2,4,6-tri-O -acetyl-d -glucal to 2,3-unsaturated glycosides by using triflic acid on SiO 2 as catalyst has been established.
Abstract: An efficient method for the conversion of 2,4,6-tri- O -acetyl- d -glucal to 2,3-unsaturated glycosides by using triflic acid on SiO 2 as catalyst has been established. A series of 2,3-unsaturated glucosides were synthesized in good yield and high anomeric selectivity under transition metal-free conditions.

TL;DR: In this paper, tri-O-acetyl-d -glucal 1 1 with several alcohols in the presence of catalytic amount of POM (K5CoW12O40·3H2O) as a heterogeneous, reusable, efficient and environmentally benign catalyst under neutral conditions and ambient temperature gave the corresponding 2,3-unsaturated glycopyranosides in excellent yields, with good anomeric selectivity.
Abstract: Treatment of tri-O-acetyl- d -glucal 1 1 with several alcohols in the presence of catalytic amount of POM (K5CoW12O40·3H2O) as a heterogeneous, reusable, efficient and environmentally benign catalyst under neutral conditions and ambient temperature gave the corresponding 2,3-unsaturated glycopyranosides in excellent yields, with good anomeric selectivity. This catalyst proved to be not efficient for phenols.

TL;DR: In this paper, an expedient synthetic method for O-glycosidation of 3,4,6-tri- O-acetyl -D- glucal for the synthesis of 2,3-unsaturated O- glycosides using bromodimethylsulfonium bromide (BDMS) as a pre-catalyst through Ferrier rearrangement.
Abstract: An expedient synthetic method has been developed for O-glycosidation of 3,4,6-tri- O-acetyl -D- glucal for the synthesis of 2,3-unsaturated O-glycosides using bromodimethylsulfonium bromide (BDMS) as a pre-catalyst through Ferrier rearrangement. Some of the salient features of the present protocol are mild reaction conditions, shor ter reaction time, easy work-up procedure, high α-selectivity and good yields.
