TL;DR: A cascaded 2-2-2 reconfigurable sigma-delta modulator that can handle GSM, WCDMA and WLAN standards and makes use of a low-distortion swing suppression topology which is highly suitable for wide band applications is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents a cascaded 2-2-2 reconfigurable sigma-delta modulator that can handle GSM, WCDMA and WLAN standards. The modulator makes use of a low-distortion swing suppression topology which is highly suitable for wide band applications. In GSM mode, only the first stage (2nd order ∑-Δ ADC) is turned on to achieve 88dB dynamic range with over-sampling ratio of 160 for a bandwidth of 200KHz; in WCDMA mode a 2-2 cascaded structure (4th order) is turned on with 1-bit in the first stage and 2-bit in the second stage to achieve 74 dB dynamic range with over-sampling ratio of 16 for a bandwidth of 2MHz and a 2-2-2 cascaded MASH architecture with a 4-bit in the last stage to achieve a dynamic range of 58dB for a bandwidth of 20MHz. The novelty lies in the fact that unused blocks of second and third stages can be switched off taking into considerations like power consumption. The modulator is designed in TSMC 0.18um CMOS technology and operates at 1.8 supply voltage.

TL;DR: Two different approaches for an automotive multi-and broadband monopole antenna for GSM, WLAN and UWB applications will be presented, both allow covering the complete relevant frequency range worldwide in one antenna structure.
Abstract: Two different approaches for an automotive multi-and broadband monopole antenna for GSM, WLAN and UWB applications will be presented. Both allow covering the complete relevant frequency range worldwide in one antenna structure. The two antennas consist of one broadband structure for frequencies above 1.7 GHz and an additional folded arm for the lower frequencies. The first approach is based on a disc-monopole. In addition it has a folded arm on its top to cover the mobile phone services GSM 900 and AMPS. It has a height of 60 mm. The second approach has a 5 mm reduced height. So it achieves a height of 55 mm, which is the typical goal of many car manufacturers. The antenna is based on a folded metal strip construction. The amplitude and phase behaviour of the two antennas were measured. The derived impulse responses will be discussed with focus on the UWB frequencies.

TL;DR: A multi-band delta-sigma modulator based synthesizer architecture has been successfully implemented in an RF-CMOS process and synthesized frequencies include the GSM, PCS and DCS bands.
Abstract: The emerging cellular and wireless standards necessitate the development of multi-mode transceiver systems. The main challenge in such systems is to have a common frequency synthesizer architecture acting as the local oscillator. In this paper, we propose a multi-band delta-sigma modulator based synthesizer architecture. This novel synthesizer architecture has been successfully implemented in an RF-CMOS process. The synthesized frequencies include the GSM, PCS and DCS bands.

TL;DR: In this paper, a GSM/TD-SCDMA terminal chip of a single-chip single DSP architecture is presented, which realizes the GSM and TD system programs on a single chip, thereby reducing the chip area and cost, lowering power consumption and improving the performance of interactive systems.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a GSM/TD-SCDMA terminal chip of a single-chip single DSP architecture, which realizes the GSM and TD system programs on a single DSP, thereby reducing the chip area and cost, lowering power consumption and improving the performance of interactive systems The chip includes: a micro-controller; a single clock generator and crystal vibration; and a single DSP chip The single DSP chip includes a chip control module, responding GSM frame interrupt and TD frame interrupt in time, distributing system resources to the GSM mode and TD-SCDMA mode, controlling the start-up of the GSM and TD-SCDMA radiofrequency signal, and shielding the GSM timer interruption or TD-SCDMA timer interruption for manually controlling network or single mode terminal; a sleeping mode dual affirmation module, detecting that the GSM and TD-SCDMA are all at a sleeping allowing state for allowing the DSP chip to enter into a sleeping mode; a GSM accelerator and a TD-SCDMA accelerator, for performing auxiliary digital signal processing to GSM and TD-SCDMA under the control of a single DSP The invention can be applied to the mobile communications field

TL;DR: In this article, a compact quad-band planar monopole antenna for IoT application is designed, fabricated and measured by an L shape radiation element and a "paperclip" meander strip.
Abstract: In this paper, a compact quad-band planar monopole antenna for IoT application is designed, fabricated and measured Four desired resonant frequencies are achieved by an L-shape radiation element and a "paperclip" meander strip The proposed antenna achieves resonant frequencies at 0915/245/35/58GHz with a simple structure and a very compact size of radiation structure of 159×25mm 2 The key parameters of strips and parasitic block in generating resonant frequencies and optimizing impedance matching are discussed in detail Experimental results reveal stable radiation properties, and adequate impedance bandwidths, thus making it suitable for practical IoT applications in WSNs/LTE/WLAN/GSM bands
