TL;DR: In this paper, a retractable overhead guard assembly is provided to protect an operator of industrial trucks, such as a forklift operator, from falling objects; the guard is retractable from a raised to a lowered position for operation in areas of low overhead clearance.
Abstract: A retractable overhead guard assembly is provided to protect an operator of industrial trucks, such as a forklift operator, from falling objects. Said guard is retractable from a raised to a lowered position for operation in areas of low overhead clearance. A pair of substantially parallel extensible supports are attached to said truck. A guard is mounted on the upper ends of the supports and is manually slideable between a forward and rearward position and is maintained in either position by a locking mechanism. Said supports may include biasing means such as springs to counterbalance the weight of the guard and facilitate manual adjustment between raised and lowered positions. A locking mechanism is also provided on each support to retain the guard in a plurality of positions. Electrical interlocks prevent the raising of the lift beyond a predetermined height if the guard is not in the rearward and raised position where it offers maximum protection to the operator.

Abstract: A trigger guard assembly preferably for a revolver which is removable from the frame of the firearm includes a trigger guard frame for carrying a trigger, a trigger spring and actuating rod, a cylinder actuating hand and hammer transfer bar assembly and hammer pivot holes in the trigger guard frame. The trigger guard assembly is removably secured to the frame preferably by three support points whereby the trigger guard assembly may be removed from and returned to the revolver frame as a totally assembled unit. Lug and socket means at the front of the trigger guard frame provide a first support point and a second support point is provided by a spring-biased plunger at the rear of the trigger guard assembly having a wedged end coacting with the slot in the frame. The spring biased plunger is preferably operable from outside of the bottom of the frame to release the trigger guard assembly. TL;DR: An easily removable safety guard for application to the barrel of a vertical drilling machine so as to overlie the drill bit comprises a coaxially arranged telescopingly connected, guard body and guard sleeve as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: An easily removable safety guard for application to the barrel of a vertical drilling machine so as to overlie the drill bit comprises a coaxially arranged telescopingly connected, guard body and guard sleeve. The guard body is yieldably and resiliently retained in a mounting ring which is in turn clamped on the barrel of the drilling machine. The guard sleeve, or skirt, depends from the guard body to engage at its underside the workpiece or machine bed plate. The guard body moves progressively downwardly relative to the sleeve during progressive downward motion of the barrel. The sleeve is provided with clear-view panels therein and the guard body includes breaker bars to break off slivers of metal cut from the workpiece. Spring pressed ball catches enable the guard body with its sleeve, to be readily removed from the mounting ring with a downward extraction force.

TL;DR: In this article, a thin gage pre-creased and pre-punched sheet aluminum is cut to length from a supply roll on the job site where light fixtures are recessed in a ceiling containing combustible insulating material.
Abstract: Thin gage pre-creased and pre-punched sheet aluminum is cut to length from a supply roll on the job site where light fixtures are recessed in a ceiling containing combustible insulating material. The thin sheet metal is readily formed into a guard or dam of the necessary size and shape and placed around the recessed light fixture to prevent the insulation material from coming into contact therewith. Bendable tabs along one edge of the sheet material form bottom anchoring elements on the guard which can be stapled to the ceiling structure. The guard or dam is held in its erected form by screws or other fasteners engaging in the pre-punched openings of the sheet material. The guard is open from top to bottom and a generous air space is provided between the side wall of the guard and the light fixture.

TL;DR: In this article, a break guard is disclosed for use in connection with a reciprocating machine, such as a bending machine, which is operatively associated with the machine for controlling the actuation of a hydraulic piston connected to a frame for the guard.
Abstract: A reciprocating preferably transparent break guard is disclosed for use in connection with a reciprocating machine, such as a bending machine. Adjustable switching means are operatively associated with the machine for controlling the actuation of a hydraulic piston connected to a frame for the guard. When the machine is in its upper position for receiving a workpiece, the switching means causes the piston to be actuated to maintain the guard in its upper position free from interference with the break. When the machine is actuated and starts its downward stroke, the switching means actuates a solenoid to release the piston causing the guard to drop smartly in front of the break thereby preventing the operator from accidentally inserting hands or fingers into the break of the machine. In its lowered position, the machine again actuates the switching means to operate the piston to raise the guard to its upper position. The position of the lower edge of the break guard is adjustable relative to a workpiece receiving surface on the machine to admit a workpiece into the break while excluding the hand or finger of the operator from the break.

Abstract: A chain door guard assembly has a chain fixed at one end with chain heads along its length and a guard plate having a raised main body section and flanges for attaching the guard plate to a door. The main body section of the guard plate contains a long slot and a plurality of entry slots which permit insertion of a plurality of chain heads into the long slot. Two independent entry slots, for accepting a chain head in one instance and a chain-attached slide bolt in the other, are also provided. The resulting chain door guard assembly affords selectively varying degrees of security and convenience, achieved by the insertion of those chain heads into their designated entry slots. This door guard assembly may be used for left or right side door installation.
