TL;DR: In this paper, an annular guard body is used to prevent removal of a Christmas tree from its position at the well head by theft denying access to the bolted connection which flanges the Christmas tree to the remainder of the well.
Abstract: An oil or gas well Christmas tree guard apparatus provides an annular guard body which is protectively secured about a bolted flanged connection of the well Christmas tree, the guard so placed forming an envelope about the flanged connection and preventing access by a thief to the bolts and thus discouraging removal of the bolts from the bolted connection. The protective guard body thus prevents removal of the Christmas tree from its location at the well head by theft denying access to the bolted connection which flanges the Christmas tree to the remainder of the well. In the preferred embodiment the guard body provides a pair of annular shroud halves which are hingedly connected allowing them to be pivotally moved from an outer position allowing removal from the flanged connection to an inner closed operative position providing an overall annular guard body which is latched into position about the desired bolted connection. The guard body hinge as well as the latch structure can be protectively covered by a connected shroud or housing about the latch structure, or the hinge respectively.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bowl guard for mounting, containing and protecting a plastic or glass bowl of a compressed air system device is presented. But the bowl guard is not designed to be removable.
Abstract: A bowl guard for mounting, containing and protecting a plastic or glass bowl of a compressed air system device. The bowl guard holds, protects and retains an opaque, transparent or translucent bowl such as a bowl which encloses a filter or lubricator device. The bowl guard is secured to a header of the device and locks the bowl in a sealed relationship with the header. The guard may have apertures so that the contents of the bowl may be observed. A drain through the bowl and guard can be provided when appropriate. A locking pin on the bowl guard insures that the entire assembly is held in alignment. When the bowl guard is latched into place and the system is under pressure the guard may not easily be withdrawn.

TL;DR: A fishing rod tip guard comprising a plastic case with a hinged top into which the tip is placed in an interior slot and the top closed and fastened is described in this paper.
Abstract: A fishing rod tip guard comprising a plastic case with a hinged top into which the tip is placed in an interior slot and the top closed and fastened. The slot prevents the guard from slipping off the tip. There is also room in the guard for the hook or lures that are attached to the line. A modification of the guard makes it useful as a bobber also.

TL;DR: In this article, a razor blade having guard elements deposited in recessed guard seats formed in the cutting edge and flanking surfaces of the blade is described, where the guard elements may be deposited by electrochemical plating and their retention on the blade surfaces is enhanced by the reces-sed seats.
Abstract: GUARDED RAZOR BLADE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A razor blade having guard elements deposited in recessed guard seats formed in the cutting edge and flanking surfaces of the blade. The guard elements may be deposited by electrochemical plating and their retention on the blade is enhanced by the reces-sed seats formed in the blade surfaces. The guard seats extend rearwardly from the blade edge a significant distance and may be interconnected by a transversely extending locking guard seat into which guard element material is also deposited. A method for applying the guard elements to the blade comprises applying a photoresist material to the blade edge and adjacent region, fixing a photographic image on the photoresist material in accor-dance with a predetermined guard element pattern, removing a portion of the photoresist material in accordance with the pattern and etching the underlying blade to form the guard seats. There-after the guard elements are deposited in the guard seats as by electroplating and the remaining photoresist material is removed to expose the blade edge and guard elements.

TL;DR: In this paper, a window guard assembly has been proposed to prevent an intruder from accessing a window from the outside of the building in case of fire and prevent the locking mechanism from being activated by an intruder.
Abstract: A window guard assembly has features that allow it to be released from the inside to allow occupants to escape in case of fire. The window guard assembly also has features that prevent the locking mechanism from being actuated by an intruder on the outside of the building. The guard assembly has a guard mounted to a window frame for covering a window. The guard is pivotally mounted, and a locking mechanism selectively prevents the pivoting of the guard. A latch member controls the locking mechanism. An enclosure is formed around the latch member to prevent access from the exterior. The enclosure has an opening that faces the interior. A pair of doors are located at the opening, one with a vertical hinge, and the other with a horizontal hinge. Both of these doors require opening to reach the latch member. When opened, the doors form a barrier in cooperation with the window frame that requires the intruder to attempt to reach around the doors in order to reach the latch member.

TL;DR: In this article, a safety device for a press machine or the like is described, which includes a first guard plate which slidably extends over the machine access area and is powered by an air cylinder having a movable rod connected to the movable arm of a second guard plate.
Abstract: The invention is related to a safety device for a press machine or the like. The safety device includes a first guard plate which slidably extends over the machine access area and is powered by an air cylinder having a movable rod connected to a movable arm of the first guard plate. The device also has a second guard plate slidably attached to the first guard plate which has a switch means for deactivating the air cylinder and therefore stopping the forward motion of the first guard plate whenever the second guard plate exhibits movement toward said first guard plate. For example, when a user's hand is in the access area and the second guard plate strikes the hand thereby slidably moving the second guard plate toward the first, the safety device is deactivated and the guard plates move away from the machine access area.

TL;DR: In this paper, a door guard exerts pressure against a door knob and a closed door to prevent the door from being opened or the door knob from being rotated, and the pressure can be increased if the guard has pivotable members.
Abstract: The door guard exerts pressure against a door knob and a closed door thereby preventing the door from being opened or the door knob from being rotated. Tremendous pressure can be exerted against a door by the door guard because its upper member and lower member may pivot about each other which permits the placing of the upper end of the top member on the door knob and the lower end of the bottom member on the floor at a point closer to the door than would be possible if the guard had just one member or did not have pivotable members.
