TL;DR: This paper introduces the concept of a guard zone, defined as the region around each receiver where interfering transmissions are inhibited, using stochastic geometry to derive the guard zone size that maximizes the transmission capacity for spread spectrum ad hoc networks.
Abstract: In ad hoc networks, it may be helpful to suppress transmissions by nodes around the desired receiver in order to increase the likelihood of successful communication. This paper introduces the concept of a guard zone, defined as the region around each receiver where interfering transmissions are inhibited. Using stochastic geometry, the guard zone size that maximizes the transmission capacity for spread spectrum ad hoc networks is derived - narrowband transmission (spreading gain of unity) is a special case. A large guard zone naturally decreases the interference, but at the cost of inefficient spatial reuse. The derived results provide insight into the design of contention resolution algorithms by quantifying the optimal tradeoff between interference and spatial reuse in terms of the system parameters. A capacity increase relative to random access (ALOHA) in the range of 2 - 100 fold is demonstrated through an optimal guard zone; the capacity increase depending primarily on the required outage probability, as higher required QoS increasingly rewards scheduling. Compared to the ubiquitous carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) which essentially implements a guard zone around the transmitter rather than the receiver - we observe a capacity increase on the order of 30 - 100%

TL;DR: In this paper, an in-depth study of major security threats are made and a decision tree has been built for evidence mining to help the law enforcement agencies and establish network crimes.
Abstract: Today the Internet technology has made it possible to form virtual communities in the cyber space thereby facilitating different types of electronic transactions. There is also a negative force to this technology, which is trying to threaten the security aspects. In order to guard against such threats one must adopt a well-planned approach and apply it systematically. In this paper, an in-depth study of major security threats are made and a decision tree has been built for evidence mining to help the law enforcement agencies and establish network crimes.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and methodologies are described that facilitate guard bandwidth independent mapping and de-mapping of bandwidth in a wireless communication system, where broadcast signals can be created as if all bandwidth were available, and guard bandwidth can be initialized over the utilized bandwidth such to puncture the data existing in the guard bandwidth.
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate guard bandwidth independent mapping and de-mapping of bandwidth in a wireless communication system. Broadcast signals can be created as if all bandwidth were available, and guard bandwidth can be initialized over the utilized bandwidth such to puncture the data existing in the guard bandwidth. Upon decoding the broadcast signal, size of the guard bandwidth can be predetermined or estimated allowing a center portion of the signal to be decoded without decoding the guard bandwidth. In this regard, the decoder of the signal need not find exact positions of the guard bandwidth as transforming and decoding the center portion can provide a substantial portion of the signal to interpret the signal.

TL;DR: In this article, the first node is arranged to communicate over a communication channel with at least one user equipment within the cell, and the communication is made by using a frame comprising uplink resources and downlink resources with a switching point between the downlink resource and the uplink resource.
Abstract: Method and arrangements for scheduling transmission resources in a first node in a cell comprised within a wireless communication network. The first node is arranged to communicate over a communication channel with at least one user equipment within the cell. The communication is made by using a frame comprising uplink resources and downlink resources with a switching point between the downlink resources and the uplink resources. The method comprises the step of obtaining a parameter referring to the expected transmission quality of the communication and/or the expected coherence properties of the communication channel. The method also comprises scheduling a transmission on an uplink or downlink resource. The resource is located on a time distance from the switching point. The time distance is based on the obtained parameter.

TL;DR: This paper discusses the classes of polygon-bounded grids and simple grids for which a quadratic time algorithm is proposed for solving the problem of finding the minimum weakly cooperative guard set (MinWCMG), and proves that the MinWCMG problem is NP-hard even for grids in which every segment crosses at most three other segments.
Abstract: A grid P is a connected union of vertical and horizontal segments. A mobile guard is a guard which is allowed to move along a grid segment, thus a point x is seen by a mobile guard g if either x is on the same segment as g or x is on a grid segment crossing g. A set of mobile guards is weakly cooperative if at any point on its patrol, every guard can be seen by at least one other guard. In this paper we discuss the classes of polygon-bounded grids and simple grids for which we propose a quadratic time algorithm for solving the problem of finding the minimum weakly cooperative guard set (MinWCMG). We also provide an O(nlogn) time algorithm for the MinWCMG problem in horizontally or vertically unobstructed grids. Next, we investigate complete rectangular grids with obstacles. We show that as long as both dimensions of a grid are larger than the number of obstacles k, k+2 weakly cooperative mobile guards always suffice to cover the grid. Finally, we prove that the MinWCMG problem is NP-hard even for grids in which every segment crosses at most three other segments. Consequently, the minimum k-periscope guard problem for 2D grids is NP-hard as well, and this answers the question posed by Gewali and Ntafos [L.P. Gewali, S. Ntafos, Covering grids and orthogonal polygons with periscope guards, Computational Geometry: Theory and Applications 2 (1993) 309-334].

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an architecture for routing information between networks of differing security level. But the architecture of the present invention reduces the time and effort needed to attain high-assurance certification.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to routing information between networks of differing security level. Communication to/from each network is handled by a dedicated Offload Engine (OE). Each OE interfaces to a Guard Engine through a Guard Data Mover (GDM) and includes an interface for connecting to an external network. A first OE receives a data packet from a first network intended to be transmitted to a second network. The Guard Engine analyzes the data packet. The Guard Engine includes an ACL (Access Control List) which are rules data packets must meet before being passed onto a destination network. If allowed, the Guard Engine delivers the data packet to the second network via a second OE utilizing a GDM associated with the first OE and a GDM associated with the second OE. The architecture of the present invention reduces the time and effort needed to attain high-assurance certification.
