Abstract: A computer aiding concept for low-altitude helicopter flight has been developed and evaluated in a real-time piloted simulation. The concept included an optimal control trajectory-generation algorithm based upon dynamic programming, and a helmet-mounted display (HMD) presentation of a pathway-in-the-sky, a phantom aircraft, and flight-path vector/predictor guidance symbology. The pilot evaluation was conducted at the NASA-Ames Research Center moving base vertical motion simulator by pilots representing NASA, the US Army, Air Force, and helicopter industry. The pilot manually tracked the trajectory generated by the algorithm utilizing the HMD symbology. The pilots were able to perform the tracking tasks satisfactorily while maintaining a high degree of awareness of the outside world. >

Abstract: The invention relates to a cooperative vehicle infrastructure system-based intersection vehicle right turning guidance system and a guidance method thereof. The guidance system includes a road-side device, a monitoring center and at least one vehicle-mounted device. When a vehicle entering an intersection communication range of the road-side device, a vehicle-mounted main control module performs analysis and judgment according to the static information of the vehicle, vehicle operating location information, vehicle driving direction, vehicle speed and traffic status information of an intersection where the vehicle is located; if judging that conflict between a motor vehicle and a non-motor vehicle or conflict between motor vehicles will occur in the future, the vehicle-mounted main control module analyzes safe vehicle speed required by right turning and transmits the safe vehicle speed to a prompt module and a vehicle speed control module; a driver will be prompted with the safe vehicle speed required by right turning through the prompt module; and the vehicle-mounted main control module monitors whether the vehicle drives at the safe vehicle speed; and if the vehicle-mounted main control module monitors that the vehicle does not drive at the safe vehicle speed, the vehicle speed control module will automatically control the speed of the vehicle.

Abstract: A satellite dish antenna for receiving a broadcast signal from a satellite includes a low noise block which receives the signal reflected from the dish and provides a human-perceptible guidance signal, such as a sequence of beep tones, to aid an individual in properly orienting the satellite dish with respect to the satellite. A time interval between the beep tones is varied in dependence on the strength of the broadcast signal received at the low noise block. A circuit for providing the guidance signal is activated by a non-contact switch, such as a magnetic lead switch. A magnet is movably mounted on the surface of the low noise block for selectively activating and deactivating the guidance signal circuit.
