TL;DR: It has been demonstrated that the proposed adaptive fuzzy finite-time path following controllers can drive the vessel to follow the predefined path and tracking error can converge to a small neighborhood around origin in finite time.

TL;DR: In this paper, a machine vision-based guidance system for agricultural combines was developed at the University of Illinois, which was used to automatically harvest a 4.6 ha (12.0 a) cornfield during both the day and at night.
Abstract: Agriculture is vitally important to the economy and well being of the United States.
Corn and soybeans are two of the most important crops in the Midwest. Automated agricultural
guidance systems offer opportunities for reduced fatigue, improved safety, increased efficiency
and a host of other improvements. A machine vision based guidance system for agricultural
combines was developed at the University of Illinois. Three machine vision guidance algorithms
were developed; the most successful algorithm utilized a single camera mounted at
approximately operator eye level on the cab of the combine. The algorithm, called the Cab
Mounted Camera Algorithm (CMCA), closely mimics the perceptive process used by the
operator. The algorithm developed was used to automatically harvest a 4.6 ha (12.0 a) cornfield
during both the day and at night. The indicated accuracy of the guidance system was
statistically the same as the accuracy of the GPS used to record the position of the combine.

20 Jun 2010TL;DR: This paper addresses the technical feasibility of a guidance system based on ultrasonic sensors to aid visually impaired people to cross a road easily and safely by using of two vibrators that act as tactile feedback.
Abstract: This paper addresses the technical feasibility of a guidance system based on ultrasonic sensors to aid visually impaired people to cross a road easily and safely. A computer processes ultrasonic signals emitted by a transmitter, which is carried by the impaired user, and provides real-time information on the direction and distance to keep user on the correct track. Instead of time of flight, the system estimates user position by the order of received ultrasonic signals at multiple receivers. Radio transmission is then used to provide guidance information to the user by using of two vibrators that act as tactile feedback. Experimental results are presented to discuss feasibility of this method.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new class of guidance laws is developed, which will augment the well-known and used law in practice proportional navigation (PN) law which is a part of this class; additional components are selected based on the negative definiteness of the derivative of the Lyapunov function.
Abstract: Synthesis of control systems based on the Lyapunov method is formulated. As an application of the approach offered, the design of guidance laws is considered. This new class of the guidance laws is developed. The new laws will augment the well-known and used law in practice proportional navigation (PN) law which is a part of this class; additional components are selected based on the negative definiteness of the derivative of the Lyapunov function. The guidance law components are determined based on the partial stability of the guidance system dynamics under consideration, and only with respect to the LOS (line of sight) derivative. The comparative analysis of the modified PN algorithms with the traditional PN law showed that the new guidance laws guarantee shorter homing time requirements and larger capture area.

02 Aug 1976TL;DR: In this article, a dual-mode guidance system employing a passive anti-radiation ser for mid-course guidance and an alternate sensor for terminal guidance is presented, where a broadband, body mounted conformal antenna comprises the midcourse sensor, and the alternate sensor is mounted on a stabilized platform within the missile radome.
Abstract: A dual mode missile guidance system employing a passive anti-radiation ser for midcourse guidance and an alternate sensor for terminal guidance. A broadband, body mounted conformal antenna comprises the midcourse sensor, and the alternate sensor is mounted on a stabilized platform within the missile radome. Detected video guidance signals from the midcourse sensor are video processed and utilized to adjust the system phase shifters for null tracking as well as for driving the stabilized platform to keep the alternate sensor directed at the target. Upon the occurrence of a predetermined condition, a handover switch connects the detected video guidance signals provided by the alternate guidance sensor processor for video processing and for control of the stabilized platform. Auto pilot signals are derived from the rate gyros mounted on the stabilized platform.
