TL;DR: In this paper, an onboard computer is used to numerically simulate the flight path of a powered ballistic missile in real time, using a model with at least 3 degrees of freedom.
Abstract: A guidance method for a powered ballistic missile (10) involves using an onboard computer to numerically simulate the flight path of the missile in real time, using a model with at least 3 degrees of freedom. The results of this simulation are used to update in real time an aim point and/or a predicted intercept point. An iterative process may be used in adjusting the aim point and/or the predicted intercept point. The process may be carried out until a specified number of steps have been completed, and/or until a specified heading error threshold of the aim point and a specified time of flight threshold have been achieved. The use of real time updating of an aim point of the missile advantageously takes into account variations in missile velocity and position due to individual variations in the rocket motor of the missile.

TL;DR: In this paper, a guidance system for a mobile machine is described, where a scanning device is configured to generate a signal indicative of a lateral distance from the machine to a roadway marker, and a locating device is used to determine a geographical location of the machine.
Abstract: A guidance system for a mobile machine is disclosed. The guidance system may have a scanning device configured to generate a signal indicative of a lateral distance from the machine to a roadway marker, a locating device configured to determine a geographical location of the machine, and a controller in communication with the scanning device and the locating device. The controller may be configured to receive a desired lateral distance from the machine to the roadway marker, and to compare the desired lateral distance to the actual lateral distance. The controller may further be configured to implement a response to the comparison based on the geographical location.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new guidance system based on the graph search algorithm kinematic A* (KA*) is presented, which is linked to a nonlinear model predictive control system that tracks the reference path, solving online (i.e. at each sampling time) a finite horizon (state horizon) open loo...
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a novel approach for trajectory tracking of UAVS. Research on unmanned aircraft is constantly improving the autonomous flight capabilities of these vehicles to provide performance needed to use them in even more complex tasks. The UAV path planner (PP) plans the best path to perform the mission. This is a waypoint sequence that is uploaded on the flight management system providing reference to the aircraft guidance, navigation and control system (GNCS). The UAV GNCS converts the waypoint sequence in guidance references for the flight control system (FCS) that, in turn, generates the command sequence needed to track the optimum path. Design/methodology/approach – A new guidance system (GS) is presented in this paper, based on the graph search algorithm kinematic A* (KA*). The GS is linked to a nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) system that tracks the reference path, solving online (i.e. at each sampling time) a finite horizon (state horizon) open loo...

TL;DR: In this paper, a traffic control and guidance system and method based on evolutionary multi-objective optimization and an ant colony algorithm is presented. But the traffic state sensing module, a single crossing optimization control module and an inter-crossing coordinating control module are established by a control system.
Abstract: The invention discloses a traffic control and guidance system and method based on evolutionary multi-objective optimization and an ant colony algorithm. According to the method, traffic control based on the evolutionary multi-objective optimization and a guidance technology based on the ant colony algorithm optimization are combined. A single crossing multi-objective optimization control model and an inter-crossing coordination mechanism are established by a control system. By adopting an improved evolutionary multi-objective optimization algorithm, traffic signal optimization is achieved. A method of equivalent path establishment is adopted on the guidance system, an optimal equivalent path is obtained by integrating with the improved ant colony algorithm, and traffic flow active guidance is achieved. The whole system comprises a traffic state sensing module, a single crossing optimization control module, an inter-crossing coordinating control module, a timing plan output module, a vehicle guidance module, a guidance path output module and controlled traffic flow.

TL;DR: In this paper, the ground collision avoidance system provides a multiple processing path to determine numerous predicted flight paths based on a number of reasonable assumptions regarding the aircraft flight during a predetermined amount of time.
Abstract: A ground collision avoidance system that is accurate and avoids nuisance warnings and displays provides an invaluable system for the preservation of life and equipment. This system improves its accuracy and performance by integrating with all other aircraft systems including guidance systems, navigation systems, digital terrain elevation databases, mission computers, and radar altimeters. Furthermore, the ground collision avoidance system provides a multiple processing path to determine numerous predicted flight paths based on a number of reasonable assumptions regarding the aircraft flight during a predetermined amount of time. By using prediction scheme a realistic estimate of the predicted flight path envelope can be determined and then this information can be used in conjunction with accurate terrain elevation databases to determine whether a ground collision condition exists. On the basis of these calculations appropriate warnings can be provided to the air crew as well as suggested maneuvers to avoid ground collision.
