TL;DR: In this article, a single objective lens for receiving both visible and infrared energy and directing those energies on a first prism is presented, where the first prism separates the visible energy from the infrared energy, and the second prism directs the visible information to an eyepiece for a viewer, followed by a second image of infrared energy at a second sensor by a rotating prism.
Abstract: A missile guidance system is disclosed which utilizes one optical system for visually tracking a target and directing a missile thereto by means of infrared (IR) energy emitted from the missile. The optical system includes a single objective lens for receiving both visible and infrared energy and directing those energies on a first prism. The first prism separates the visible energy from the infrared energy and directs the visible energy to an eyepiece for a viewer. A first image of infrared energy is directed to a first infrared sensor by a retrodirective reflector. A second image of infrared energy is directed at a second sensor by a rotating prism. The output signals from the first and second sensors are provided to missile control circuitry which compares these signals with reference signals and thereby generates command signals for steering the missile to the target.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a fixed beam guidance system based on the concept of using paired fixed overlapping beams, sequentially radiated by different fixed antennas, for small airports.
Abstract: The invention provides independent guidance and monitoring to be integrated into an MLS landing system and also provides a scaled-down MLS landing guidance system useable at small airports. In both cases an added fixed beam precision guidance system is integrated into the MLS time sequence format. The fixed beam guidance system is based upon the concept of using paired fixed overlapping beams, sequentially radiated by different fixed antennas. One pair is oriented to left and right of the centerline of the runway, and the other pair is oriented above and below the desired glideslope. The first set of paired beams overlap at the centerline of the runway in such a manner that an aircraft approaching exactly on centerline will intercept equal signal intensities to indicate an on-course approach. Conversely when the aircraft is off-course to one side of the centerline, it will intercept a stronger signal intensity for the fixed guidance beam which is directed to that side of the centerline and a weaker signal intensity for the fixed beam which is directed to the other side of the centerline. Similar operation is provided by the overlapped guidance beams operating in the elevation mode.

Abstract: As an individual driver, having a route guidance system that provides the shortest path based on distance or an alternative path during an incident condition can be extremely useful. Even though it is more desirable to use travel times in providing route guidance, they are not readily available for every roadway segment. With the Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) initiative, it is anticipated in the near future that individual vehicles equipped with VII could collect travel times and transfer such information to other vehicles and the transportation management system. Thus, travel-time information for real-time route guidance could be available through the VII. System-level potentials of the VII were explored by evaluating various route guidance strategies within the VII environment. A simulation framework was developed representing the VII-enabled virtual world, and route guidance strategies were evaluated with various factors, including market penetration of VII-equipped vehicles, congestion leve...

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact time and impact angle control guidance law with large impact angle constraint is presented. But the authors only consider the case of small impact angle constraints and do not consider the effect of large impact angles.
Abstract: The problem of impact time control with large impact angle constraint is addressed. The dynamics of impact time error under the biased proportional navigation based impact angle control guidance law is first derived for the case of large impact angle constraint. Based on the impact time error dynamics, an additional control term is designed to drive the impact time error to converge in finite time. The resultant impact time and impact angle control guidance law comprises the biased proportional navigation based impact angle control guidance law and an additional term. The first term is used to achieve zero miss distance with the designated impact angle, and the second term is used to control the impact time. Compared with the existing impact time and impact angle control guidance law, which is shown to be only applicable for the case of small impact angle constraint, its application is not limited by the magnitude of the designated impact angle. Finite time convergence of the closed-loop guidance system u...
