TL;DR: In this paper, the authors consider the limitations of a range of missile guidance genres in solving challenging missile to missile engagements and identify that the ability of the missile to reach the target is a common area of uncertainty.
Abstract: Reachability guidance is a new concept developed from a combination of robot and missile guidance using shortest path techniques. It has been developed to improve mid-course guidance in medium range tactical, missile to missile, engagements. This paper considers the limitations of a range of missile guidance genres in solving challenging missile to missile engagements and identifies that the ability of the missile to reach the target is a common area of uncertainty. Using the SAM versus supersonic sea-skimming ASM problem as an illustrative example, a novel technique which employs the earliest intercept line (EIL) to facilitate reachability ('R') guidance is introduced.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a route guidance system which offers information on a route to the destination without moving the line-of-sight (LoS) of the vehicle in front of the driver.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route guidance system which offers information on a route to the destination without moving the line of sight. SOLUTION: The route guidance is performed by generating an image of a virtual leading vehicle which can be visually recognized from an occupant of one's own vehicle as if the nonexistent virtual leading vehicle travels ahead the route and displaying the generated image of the virtual leading vehicle on a windshield display provided on the front window of the one's own vehicle. TL;DR: In this article, an aircraft formation/refueling guidance system guides a follower aircraft relative to a leader aircraft by using an optical tracker onboard the follower aircraft taking an image of the leader aircraft when receiving the hold command.
Abstract: An aircraft formation/refueling guidance system guides a follower aircraft relative to a leader aircraft. A datalink provides a position hold and a bias command from the leader aircraft to the follower aircraft. An optical tracker onboard the follower aircraft takes an image of the leader aircraft when receiving the hold command, tracks the leader aircraft using the image, and provides optical tracker movement outputs. A resolver resolves the optical tracker movement outputs to provide resolver control signals. A vernier control receives the bias command to change a position of the follower aircraft by biasing the resolver control signals with a bias signal. A sum circuit connected to the resolver and to the vernier control receives the resolver control signals and the bias signal to provide a sum circuit output signal. An autopilot and autothrottle receives the sum circuit output signal and the position hold command to control the follower aircraft.

TL;DR: A novel sensor grid using 40 KHz ultrasonic transmitters is presented for adoption in indoor 3D positioning applications and provides foundations for the future development of ultrasonic navigation sensors for a variety of autonomous vehicle applications.
Abstract: Navigation and guidance systems are a critical part of any autonomous vehicle. In this paper, a novel sensor grid using 40 KHz ultrasonic transmitters is presented for adoption in indoor 3D positioning applications. In the proposed technique, a vehicle measures the arrival time of incoming ultrasonic signals and calculates the position without broadcasting to the grid. This system allows for conducting silent or covert operations and can also be used for the simultaneous navigation of a large number of vehicles. The transmitters and receivers employed are first described. Transmission lobe patterns and receiver directionality determine the geometry of transmitter clusters. Range and accuracy of measurements dictate the number of sensors required to navigate in a given volume. Laboratory experiments were performed in which a small array of transmitters was set up and the sensor system was tested for position accuracy. The prototype system is shown to have a 1-sigma position error of about 16 cm, with errors between 7 and 11 cm in the local horizontal coordinates. This research work provides foundations for the future development of ultrasonic navigation sensors for a variety of autonomous vehicle applications.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for guiding a user through a complex process having a plurality of steps is provided, which may permit a user with little or no knowledge of the process to complete the process.
Abstract: A system and method for guiding a user through a complex process having a plurality of steps is provided. The system may permit a user with little or no knowledge of the process to complete the process. The guidance system may include a logical structure which models the process steps within the process and guidance pages which provide the user with additional information about how to proceed through the process. The guidance pages may have one or more page fragments and each page fragment may be dynamically generated based on certain preconditions so that the guidance pages are easily customizable.
