TL;DR: In this article, the handoff of a user terminal to a different satellite involves the user terminal conducting satellite signal measurements and sending a measurement message to the satellite network portal, whereby, based on this information, the satellite portal generates the satellite handoff information and/or selects a handoff procedure for the user.
Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to handoff of a user terminal in communication with a satellite network portal through a satellite. In some aspects, a satellite network portal and a user terminal use a satellite handoff information to determine when to handoff the user terminal from one cell to another and/or from one satellite to another. In some aspects, a user terminal sends capability information, location information, or other information to a satellite network portal whereby, based on this information, the satellite network portal generates the satellite handoff information and/or selects a handoff procedure for the user terminal. In some aspects, handoff of a user terminal to a different satellite involves the user terminal conducting satellite signal measurements and sending a measurement message to the satellite network portal. In some aspects, the satellite network portal generates new satellite handoff information as a result of receiving a measurement message.

TL;DR: This study found that existing handover practice is time-consuming, lacks patient involvement and essential information, and is varied in style.
Abstract: Examining systems of nursing handover provides the opportunity to identify areas in need of improvement and modification The aim of this study was to describe nursing handover practices for one organization and explore clinical nurses' opinions regarding the quality of the current shift-to-shift handover style One hundred and fifty-three registered nurses employed in 23 wards in an acute tertiary hospital in Australia completed a survey The survey collected information about demographic data, current methods and preferences for style of handover and opinions about the quality of nursing handover This study found that existing handover practice is time-consuming, lacks patient involvement and essential information, and is varied in style Only one ward (43%) conducted handover at the bedside The majority (82%) expressed reluctance to change their current handover style Modification of existing nursing handover is needed but might be challenging in view of the reluctance to change this ritual

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for implementing call handover (HO) is described, where a user equipment (UE) is configured to communicate with a wireless communication network.
Abstract: A system and method for implementing call handover (HO) is disclosed. A user equipment (UE) is configured to communicate with a wireless communication network. The UE is configured to transmit a measurement report to at least one of a serving cell and at least one cell of a coordinated multi-point (CoMP) cell set. The UE is also configured to listen for control channel transmissions from at least one of the serving cell and a first cell in the CoMP cell set, receive a resource allocation from at least one of the serving cell and the first cell in the CoMP cell set, and receive an HO command jointly from the serving cell and the first cell in the CoMP cell set. The HO command identifies a target cell. The UE is also configured to perform handover to the target cell identified in the HO command.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of performing a handoff between a plurality of wireless systems having different service areas and a wireless communication terminal is provided. But the handoff destination is not considered.
Abstract: A method of performing a handoff between a plurality of wireless systems having different service areas and a wireless communication terminal are provided. A means for selecting one of the wireless systems to be connected according to the average moving speed of the wireless terminal is provided. When the average moving speed is changed across a certain threshold, the wireless terminal starts selecting one of the wireless systems as a handoff destination. Upon selection of the handoff destination, the current throughput is compared with the estimated throughput of the handoff destination. When an improvement in the throughput can be expected, the wireless terminal performs the handoff. The wireless terminal incorporates a plurality of control devices to select the handoff destination while communicating with the current wireless system.
