TL;DR: In this article, higher-order Bragg resonant interactions between linear gravity waves and doubly sinusoidal beds have been observed by making very precise measurements in a wave tank.
Abstract: Experiments are described which demonstrate higher-order Bragg resonant interactions between linear gravity waves and doubly sinusoidal beds. These higher-order effects, which include harmonic and subharmonic Bragg reflections, have been observed by making very precise measurements in a wave tank. Subharmonic reflection was found to be very large, even for small bottom undulation amplitudes. The experimental data are compared with the predictions of a numerical model based on the full potential theory of linear waves.

TL;DR: In this article, a review of studies of high-order harmonic generation in plasma plumes is presented, where the generation of highorder harmonics (up to the 101st order, λ = 7.9 nm) of Ti:sapphire laser radiation during the propagation of short laser pulses through a low-excited, low-ionized plasma produced on the surfaces of different targets is analyzed.
Abstract: A review of studies of high-order harmonic generation in plasma plumes is presented. The generation of high-order harmonics (up to the 101st order, λ = 7.9 nm) of Ti:sapphire laser radiation during the propagation of short laser pulses through a low-excited, low-ionized plasma produced on the surfaces of different targets is analysed. The observation of considerable resonance-induced enhancement of a single harmonic (λ = 61.2 nm) at the plateau region with 10−4 conversion efficiency in the case of an In plume can offer some expectations that analogous processes can be realized in other plasma samples in the shorter wavelength range. Recent achievements of single-harmonic enhancement at mid- and end-plateau regions are discussed. Various methods for the optimization of harmonic generation are analysed, such as the application of the second harmonic of driving radiation and the application of prepulses of different durations. The enhancement of harmonic generation efficiency during the propagation of femtosecond pulses through a nanoparticle-containing plasma is discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a soliton erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser operating at the 322nd harmonic of the fundamental cavity frequency has been reported with pulses of 1 ps duration and 18 pJ energy.
Abstract: We report passive mode locking of a soliton erbium-doped double-clad fiber laser operating at the 322nd harmonic of the fundamental cavity frequency. Repetition rates up to 3 GHz have been obtained with pulses of 1 ps duration and 18 pJ of energy. The supermode suppression at the 322nd harmonic is better than 25 dB. In addition, the transition dynamics from a bunched state of pulses to stable harmonic mode locking is presented, revealing a very long time scale.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a new approach for rotor bar failure diagnosis in induction machines based on the study of an approximation signal resulting from the wavelet decomposition of the startup stator current.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present a new approach for rotor bar failure diagnosis in induction machines. The method focuses on the study of an approximation signal resulting from the wavelet decomposition of the startup stator current. The presence of the left sideband harmonic is used as evidence of the rotor failure in most diagnosis methods based on the analysis of the stator current. Thus, a detailed description of the evolution of the left sideband harmonic during the startup transient is given in this paper; for this purpose, a method for calculating the evolution of the left sideband during the startup is developed, and its results are physically explained. This paper also shows that the approximation signal of a particular level, which is obtained from the discrete wavelet transform of the startup stator current, practically reproduces the time evolution of the left sideband harmonic during the startup. The diagnosis method proposed here consists of checking if the selected approximation signal fits well the characteristic shape of the left sideband harmonic evolution described in this paper. The method is validated through laboratory tests. The results prove that it can constitute a useful tool for the diagnosis of rotor bar breakages.
