TL;DR: In this article, a survey of the commonly used methods for harmonic detection in active power filters (APFs) is presented, and a simulation setup that decouples the harmonic detection method from the active filter model and its controllers is proposed.
Abstract: This article gives a survey of the commonly used methods for harmonic detection in active power filters (APFs). The work proposes a simulation setup that decouples the harmonic detection method from the active filter model and its controllers. In this way, the selected methods can be equally analyzed and compared with respect to their performance, which helps in anticipating possible implementation issues. A comparison is given that may be used to decide the future hardware setup implementation. The comparison shows that the choice of numerical filtering is a key factor for obtaining a good accuracy and dynamic performance of an active power filter.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors derived an analytical formula for the harmonic Hall voltages to evaluate the effective field for both out-of-plane and in-plane magnetized systems, and the results illustrate the versatility of harmonic Hall voltage measurement for studying current induced torques in magnetic heterostructures.
Abstract: Solid understanding of current induced torques is a key to the development of current and voltage controlled magnetization dynamics in ultrathin magnetic heterostructures. To evaluate the size and direction of such torques, or effective fields, a number of methods have been employed. Here, we examine the adiabatic (low-frequency) harmonic Hall voltage measurement that has been used to study the effective field. We derive an analytical formula for the harmonic Hall voltages to evaluate the effective field for both out of plane and in-plane magnetized systems. The formula agrees with numerical calculations based on a macrospin model. Two different in-plane magnetized films, Pt|CoFeB|MgO and CuIr|CoFeB|MgO are studied using the formula developed. The effective field obtained for the latter system shows relatively good agreement with that estimated using spin torque switching phase diagram measurements reported previously. Our results illustrate the versatile applicability of harmonic Hall voltage measurement for studying current induced torques in magnetic heterostructures.

TL;DR: In this paper, a proportional plus resonant (P+resonant) compensator is added into the outer voltage regulation loop to achieve zero steady error, to develop a high performance UPS control algorithm, which is applicable to both single-phase and three-phase systems.
Abstract: Most of the many reported control algorithms for uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) use either filter inductor or filter capacitor currents as feedback variables to regulate the output voltage. This paper explores the fundamental performance issues associated with the use of these quantities as feedback variables, with a view to determining their contribution to the transient system response and output harmonic compensation in any particular situation. A proportional plus resonant (P+resonant) compensator is then added into the outer voltage regulation loop to achieve zero steady error, to develop a high performance UPS control algorithm, which is applicable to both single-phase and three-phase systems. Theory, simulation, and experimental results are presented in the paper.

TL;DR: A spectral analysis of the trajectories of 7 body markers in the saggital plane, and of the knee angle as determined by 4 of these markers, indicates that, for the marker trajectories, 99·7 per cent of the signal power lies below the 8th harmonic.
