Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Circannual and circadian variations in plasma levels of steroids were estimated by radioimmunoassay in the female and male catfish over two consecutive annual reproductive cycles to show rather precise correlations with environmental factors such as photoperiod, temperature, and rainfall as well as with seasonal reproductive activity in both sexes of catfish.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that fish of polluted water are subjected to oxidative stress of multifarious dimensions, showing high population of circulatory phagocytes.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The annual reproductive cycle of the catfish Heteropneustes fossilis is divided into the preparatory period, prespawning period, spawning period, and postspawning period; the tempo of ovarian recrudescence is much faster at 30 C than at other temperatures regardless of photoperiod.
