TL;DR: There was not any consistent correlation between activity in organicsolvents and either the initial structure obtained in the dried powders or the final structure when suspended in organic solvents, nor could differences in residual water contents in dried samples or the total water content in the organic solvent reaction system account for the activity differences.

TL;DR: In this article, the results indicate high selectivity for separation of ethanol and hexane with the ammonium ionic liquid in solvent extraction and the maximum mean square deviation in mole fraction was 0.01.
Abstract: Liquid−liquid phase equilibria (LLE) of hexyl(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium tetrafluoroborate (C6BF4) or hyperbranched polymer (a fatty-acid-modified dendritic polymer, Boltorn U3000) B-U3000 + ethanol + hexane, at T = 298.15 K have been measured. The results are discussed in terms of the selectivity of ethanol and hexane separation. Sloping of the tie lines toward the ethanol vertex is observed for both mixtures (C6BF4 or B-U3000 + ethanol + hexane). The results indicate high selectivity for separation of ethanol and hexane with the ammonium ionic liquid in solvent extraction. The nonrandom two-liquid NRTL model was successfully used to correlate the experimental tie lines. The maximum mean square deviation in mole fraction was 0.01.

TL;DR: In this article, a high-throughput screening was carried out to assess a large number of experimentally reported metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and zeolites for their utility in hexane isomer separation.
Abstract: Computational high-throughput screening was carried out to assess a large number of experimentally reported metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and zeolites for their utility in hexane isomer separation. Through the work, we identified many MOFs and zeolites with high selectivity (SL+M > 10) for the group of n-hexane, 2-methylpentane, and 3-methylpentane (linear and monobranched isomers) versus 2,2-dimethylbutane and 2,3-dimethylbutane (dibranched isomers). This group of selective sorbents includes VICDOC (Fe2(BDP)3), a MOF with triangular pores that is known to exhibit high isomer selectivity and capacity. For three of these structures, the adsorption isotherms for a 10-component mixture of hexane and heptane isomers were calculated. Subsequent simulations of column breakthrough curves showed that the DEYVUA MOF exhibits a longer process cycle time than VICDOC MOF or MRE zeolite, which are previously reported, high-performing materials, illustrating the importance of capacity in designing MOFs for practical ...

TL;DR: In this article, the results of liquid−liquid equilibrium data were determined experimentally for {1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate + thiophene + hexane} and [1]--methyl 3-octylmethyl-hexane ternary systems at 298.15 K.
Abstract: Liquid−liquid equilibrium data have been determined experimentally for {1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate + thiophene + hexane} and {1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate + thiophene + cyclohexane} ternary systems at 298.15 K. The compositions of the ends of the tie-lines were obtained by gas chromatographic analysis of phases at equilibrium. Data have been adequately correlated using the nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) activity coefficient model despite this being an equation intended for nonelectrolyte solutions.
