08 Jan 2003TL;DR: In this article, an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) system that communicates via DLS routing through a bundle of cables including a communication line for time compression multiplexing-integrated services digital network (TCM-ISDN) system is synchronized with a TCM timing reference (TTR) signal.
Abstract: Provided is an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) system that communicates via digital subscriber line (DSL) routing through a bundle of cables including a communication line for time compression multiplexing-integrated services digital network (TCM-ISDN) system that is synchronized with a TCM timing reference (TTR) signal. The ADSL system is synchronized with a data signal inputted after the TTR indication signal.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose a system and method for metallic-testing a subscriber line that provides both voice and digital subscriber line services, where the DSL line in the DSLAM card has a connection to a second metallic line test bus.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for metallic-testing a subscriber line that provides both voice and digital subscriber line services. SOLUTION: The voice service is provided by a voice switch and the DSL service is provided by a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM). Each of them includes a metallic line test unit. The voice line in the voice switch has a connection to a first metallic line test bus connected to the voice switch metallic line test unit via a first relay set. The DSL line in the DSLAM card has a connection to a second metallic line test bus, which is also connected between the DSLAM metallic line test unit and the subscriber line. A second set of relays control the connection of the metallic line test bus to the subscriber line. A signal is sent from either metallic test unit to cause the relays to change to provide a clear path for metallic testing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO

01 Jan 1999TL;DR: Simulation results are provided for subband-coded images and integrated services (video, voice and data), demonstrating an excellent performance improvement, where a 0.5-2 dB average power gain is achieved.
Abstract: Consider the design of a multimedia transmission system to provide reliable and efficient delivery of multimedia data over a digital subscriber line. The layers associated with different bit error performances are transmitted in parallel, and the properties of the telephone line channel are utilized to achieve unequal error protection efficiently. The transmitted power for the specified error performance is significantly reduced compared to that of conventional schemes. Simulation results are provided for subband-coded images and integrated services (video, voice and data), demonstrating an excellent performance improvement, where a 0.5-2 dB average power gain is achieved.
