TL;DR: In this article, a color map look-up table is defined from the processed gray-scale image data to define a color palette of K colors, (eg, K=4-16) Histogram analysis, nonlinear mapping or segmentation processing is used to map the gray scale levels to the color palette.
Abstract: Ultrasound gray-scale image data and corresponding processed gray-scale image data are color-enhanced to generate an enhanced multi-color image At one step, a color map look-up table is defined from the processed gray-scale image data to define a color palette of K colors, (eg, K=4-16) Histogram analysis, nonlinear mapping or segmentation processing is used to map the gray-scale levels to the color palette The processed gray-scale image data then is transposed into a transposed color image data set Data interpolation then is performed in which each pixel of the original gray-scale image data is interpolated with a corresponding pixel among the transposed color image data set Interpolation weighting is adjustable by the user to determine how much detail from the original gray scale image is preserved

TL;DR: The set of parameters for which color indexing works well can be described as the set of Parameters for which the maximal match number is below an application-dependent maximum.
Abstract: Most color indexing techniques proposed in the literature are similar: images are represented by color histograms, and a metric on the color histogram space is used to determine the similarity of images. In this paper we determine the limits of these color indexing techniques. We propose two functions to measure the discrimination power of indexing techniques: the capacity (how many distinguishable histograms can be stored) and the maximal match number (the maximal number of retrieved images). We derive bounds for these functions. These bounds have two practical aspects. First, they help a user to decide whether color histograms effectively index database images from a given domain. Second, they facilitate the choice of a good threshold for the distance below which histograms are considered similar. Our arguments are based on an analysis of the metrical properties of the histogram space and results from coding theory. The results show that over a large range of reasonable parameters the capacity is very large. Thus, the set of parameters for which color indexing works well can be described as the set of parameters for which the maximal match number is below an application-dependent maximum.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for color transfer is presented, which includes retrieving a concept color palette from computer memory corresponding to a concept selected by a user. And then computing an image color palette for an input image.
Abstract: A system and method for color transfer are provided. The method includes retrieving a concept color palette from computer memory corresponding to a concept selected by a user. The concept color palette includes a first set of colors, which may be statistically representative of colors of a set of predefined color palettes which have been associated with the concept. The method further includes computing an image color palette for an input image. The image color palette includes a second set of colors that are representative of pixels of the input image. Colors of the image color palette are mapped to colors of the concept color palette to identify, for colors of the image color palette, a corresponding color in the concept color palette. A transformation is computed based on the mapping. For pixels of the input image, modified color values are computed, based on the computed transformation, to generate a modified image.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for splicing a video in real time based on multiple cameras, which comprises the following steps of: acquiring synchronous multi-path video data; preprocessing frame images at the same moment; converting a color image into a grayscale image; enhancing the image, and expanding the dynamic range of grayscale of the image by a histogram equalization method; extracting the characteristic points of corresponding frames by using a speeded up robust features (SURF) algorithm; solving matched characteristic point pairs among corresponding frame images of the video by using a nearest neighbor matching method and a random sample consensus matching algorithm; solving an optimal homography matrix of initial k frames of the video; determining splicing overlapping regions according to the matched characteristic point pairs; taking a homography matrix corresponding to a frame with highest overlapping region similarity as the optimal homography matrix, and splicing subsequent video frame scenes; and outputting the spliced video. The method can reduce the calculated amount of splicing the video frame single-frame image, improves the splicing speed of traffic monitoring videos and achieves real-time processing effect.
