TL;DR: Two new triterpene glycosides, scabraside A and B, were isolated from the sea cucumber Holothuria scabra and had significant in vitro cytotoxicity against four human tumor cell lines in comparison to 10-hydroxycamptothecin.
Abstract: Two new triterpene glycosides, scabraside A (1) and B (2), and a structurally known compound (3), were isolated from the sea cucumber Holothuria scabra (Holothuriidae) collected from the South China Sea Structure of these compounds was elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods The glycosides 1 and 2 exhibit the same common structural features, i e, the presence of 12- and 17-hydroxy groups in the holostane-type triterpene aglycone with a 9(11)-ene bond, but are different in the side chains of the triterpene aglycone The glycosides 1 and 2 had significant in vitro cytotoxicity against four human tumor cell lines in comparison to 10-hydroxycamptothecin

TL;DR: This study compared the chemical compositions of cucumbers harvested from the Bndar-elengeh coast in South of Iran July 2011 to find out which ash content in H.parva was more than H.arenicola otherwise protein and crud fiber content in the cucumbers were more thanH.pavra (p< 0.05).
Abstract: This study compared the chemical compositions of se a cucumbers harvested from the Bndar-elengeh coast in South of Iran July 2011. Their Mois ture, ash, protein, and fat contents were measured and recorded. The average protein, moistur e, ash, crude fiber and fat were 17.61±.95%, 67.82±3.81%, 32.74±1.17%, 1.87±0.50% an d 2.43±0.53% in H.parva and 24.37±1.93%, 69.45±3.09%, 10.86±0.4%, 2.29±0.5% and 2.88±0.47% in H.arenicola respectively. Crude fat and moisture content doesn' t show any significant difference (p> 0.05). Significant variations were also observed between p rotein, ash and crude fiber contents (p<0.05) which ash content in H.parva was more than H.arenicola otherwise protein and crud fiber content in H.arenicola were more than H.pavra (p< 0.05).

TL;DR: The results of discriminant analysis present a new perspective on the taxonomic status of species in Holothuria (Holothuria), and show how a molecular approach, combined with a morphological approach, can solve taxonomic problems.

TL;DR: In this paper, desulfated lanostane-type triterpene tetraglycosides, designated DS-pervicoside A (7), DS-PERVOSIDE B (8), and DS- PERVOCOSIDE C (9), have antifungal activity, and their structures were determined on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence.
Abstract: Triterpene-oligoglycoside constituents, contained in the body walls and the Cuvierian tubules f the sea cucumber Holothuria pervicax (torafu-namako in Japanese), were investigated and purified in their desulfated forms. These desulfated lanostane-type triterpene tetraglycosides, designated DS-pervicoside A (7), DS-pervicoside B (8), and DS-pervicoside C (9), have antifungal activity, and their structures were determined on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence. The parent oligoglycosides of these desulfated tetraglycosides, named pervicosides A (10), B (11), and C (12), were shown to be the 4'-sulfates of DS-pervicosides A (7), B (8), and C (9), respectively.
