TL;DR: In this paper, extreme fine abrasive particles are incorporated in an elastomeric resin body or coating to produce abrasive articles exhibiting cushioned or resilient yielding qualities having a dual response to in-service conditions.
Abstract: Extremely fine abrasive particles are incorporated in an elastomeric resin body or coating to produce abrasive articles exhibiting cushioned or resilient yielding qualities having a dual response to in-service conditions. These performance characteristics are accomplished by a structure whose working surface and underlying supporting means produce two distinct and complementary abrading actions, one hard enough to sharpen a hardened cutting tool and to smooth the adjacent surface, and a second of being virtually simultaneously micro-deformable, via the mechanisms of cold flow, at or near maximum or optimum sharpening pressure. Such abrasive articles allow limited local displacement of a volume of the abrasive surface layer in a continuous wave to lift the surface at the tool edge to a height slightly beyond the plane of the edge being sharpened to "wipe" and so refine the extreme edge of the cutting tool and to remove the "wire-edge" as only athree-dimensional form of contact will accomplish. The articles of this invention are particularly suited to the performance of honing, stropping and lapping operations.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out even etching in a short time, by carrying out electrochemically etching of the inner circumferential surface of a cylinder block made of a high Si-Al alloy. CONSTITUTION:The inner circumferential surface of a monobloc-cast cylinder block made of a high Si-Al alloy is mirror-finished by honing or the like. Subsequently, an electrolyte is jetted into a uniform gap 1 e.g. between an uprightly standing tool electrode 2 and a cylinder block 4 supported in a hand-standing state, and at the same time, an electric current is sent between the both for several seconds. Thus, only eutectic Al on the inner circumferential surface of the block 4 and which is a good conductor is electrolytically corroded uniformly.

During the passage through the box 6, the surface layer of the resulting steel wire receives compressive residual stress.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high strength steel wire for a spring with superior bending and twisting characteristics after bluing by producing compressive residual stress in the surface layer of a wire by a liq. honing or shot peening effect and a brushing effect afer a cold drawing stage. CONSTITUTION:A rough steel wire 1 is cold drawn with continuously arranged cold drawing devices 31-3n and passed through a capstan 5 and a liq. honing or shot peening box 6. During the passage through the box 6, the surface layer of the resulting steel wire 10 receives compressive residual stress. The wire 10 is then passed through a wire brushing device 7, where the surface of the wire is brushed with wire brushes rotating at high speed. Thus, compressive residual stress is further applied to the surface layer of the wire.

TL;DR: In this article, a thin-walled cylindrical body having required characteristics such as heat resistance and abrasion resistance more inexpensively by melt spraying a prescribed metal or ceramics on the smooth outside circumferential surface of a mandrel of a circular section.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a thin-walled cylindrical body having required characteristics such as heat resistance and abrasion resistance more inexpensively by melt spraying a prescribed metal or ceramics on the smooth outside circumferential surface of a mandrel of a circular section. CONSTITUTION:While a mandrel 1 of which the circumferential surface is finished smooth is rotated, a metal or ceramics having desired characteristics is overlaid with a melt spraying gun on the circumferential surface thereof. Here, a material having abrasion resistance and heat resistance, for example, chill, is melt-sprayed on the inner side thereof to a prescribed thickness, after which an inexpensive material, for example, a steel wire is melt-sprayed on the outer side thereof to a required wall thickness. The resultant melt sprayed layers 2, 3 are heated or the mandrel 1 is removed in a heating atmosphere, whereby a thin- walled cylindrical body 5 is obtained. The roughness of the inside surface of the body 5 is improved by the surface finish accuracy of the mandrel 1 and the fining of the grain sizes of the melt spraying material. If necessary, the inside surface thereof is finished smooth by buffing or honing.

TL;DR: In this paper, a conductive rubber sheet was used to hold a semiconductor wafer to be machined at the time of dry honing it by placing the wafer on a working base, and holding the Wafer by a conductively rubber rubber pressed onto one side surface of the semiconductor and electrically contacted at the opposite side surface with the ground.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To rapidly discharge static electricity generated on a semiconductor wafer to be machined at the time of dry honing it by placing the wafer on a working base, and holding the wafer by a conductive rubber pressed onto one side surface of the wafer and electrically contacted at the opposite side surface with the ground. CONSTITUTION:A conductive rubber sheet 4 opened with a hole 5 is bonded to the flat upper surface of a working base 1, and a wafer 10 to be machined is placed on the base 1 exposed within the hole 5. Then, the wafer 10 is pressed at one side surface by a spring 6, and is pressed at the opposite side surface to the inner wall of the hole 5, thereby effectively holding the wafer 10. Thus, preferably electrical contact is produced between the wafer 10 and the sheet 4 by utilizing the elasticity of the sheet 4. When atomizing abrasive 2 is thereafter sprayed, the static electricity produced on the wafer 10 can be escaped rapidly to the ground, no discharge occurs between the base 1 and the wafer 10, and no damage occurs at the wafer 10.

TL;DR: In this article, a machining tool is introduced into which different types of machining elements can be introduced successively, that is to say grinding elements and strips with protrusions having a chip-removing effect.
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a honing tool into which different types of machining elements can be introduced successively, that is to say grinding elements and strips with protrusions having a chip-removing effect. In order to increase the material-removing capacity of the honing tool, said strips (2: Figure 1) consist of hard metal and have a cutting edge (3) which has, along its extent, a multiplicity of notches (4), this resulting in cutting tips (5). Between bouts of grinding machining, a machining element of this type produces fine grooves again and again on the workpiece surface. Said grooves can be rapidly removed again by machining, without impairing the machining quality, as a result of which the machining capacity is considerably increased.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To avoid spoiling the interior of a work with an abrasive by a method wherein a fluid is made to flow out via a through-hole at an objective surface of a work so as to prevent an abrasive from penetrating into the through-hole, in a honing process. CONSTITUTION:The work W is set between centers 8, 11, then clean air is fed into the interior W1 of the work W through a fluid supply pipe 6 connected to one of the centers 8 and is caused to flow out through the through-hole 1 of the work W, and the work W is rotated about its axis by a motor 7. Then, the abrasive 3 is blasted onto the work W from a blasting gun 2 to hone the peripheral surface of the work W. In this case, since the clean air is flowing out through the through-hole 1, the abrasive can be prevented from penetrating into the through-hole 1 and the honing of the work W can be performed without spoiling its interior with the abrasive 3.

TL;DR: In this article, a supernatant acqueous solution is put by pressure into an ultra filter via an acqueous pipe attached to a pressure feed pump and then transferred to a washing sprayer.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify control by circulating abrasive and abluent water inside a captioned processing unit for deburring semi-conductor and making concentration of abrasive nearly changeless inside the unit. CONSTITUTION:A supernatant acqueous solution 1 in an acqueous solution tank 2 is put by pressure into a ultra filter 14 via an acqueous solution pipe 12 attached to a pressure feed pump 13. Concentrated acqueous solution obtained as a result is poured into a tank 2 via a pipe 15, which stirs up inside the tank 2 making start up time unnecessary at honing. On the other hand, pure filtered liquid obtained from an ultra filter 14 is transferred to a washing sprayer 9 via a pipe equipped with a pressure feed pump 17 and used again as abluent liquid. In this way, by circulating abrasive in acqueous solution in a circulation unit its volume is kept unchanged and by circulating even abluent water in a closed loop, concentration of abrasive is nearly unchanged so that its control becomes quite easy.
