Abstract: A machining cell for automatic machining systems that is small-sized and lightweight and simple in construction and that is so arranged as to make it easy to decide and change the number of processing steps and easy to design, and as to be capable of reducing the device cost. The machining cell (A) has a unit construction comprising a carrying device (10) constituting part of a work carrying passageway (1), a fine boring machine (5a) or honing machines (5b, 5c) as single machine tools, and a control section for controlling them by operatively interconnecting them, it being arranged that such machining cells may be added to or removed from the machining section of an automatic machining system such as an automatic honing system.

After molding thermoplastic materials having a shear strength of 50 MPa or more, the surfaces of the molded articles are subjected to liquid honing treatment with an aluminum abrasive so that the surface roughness Rz (average roughness of ten points) is 10 µm or more, and subsequently addition of catalyst, activation treatment, and electroless plating are carried out.

SOLUTION: In this cylinder block 1, a bore inner peripheral surface head region T, which ranges from a position where a top ring Rt of a piston ring R sliding along a bore inner peripheral surface 2a is in a top dead center to a position of an oil ring R when an inside of the bore 2 is in a state of maximum pressure due to fuel combustion, is larger in its surface roughness than a base region B which ranges from below the head region T to a base end 4. In the forming device, a grinding wheel 12a for large surface roughness and a grinding wheel 12b for small surface roughness are arranged to the same honing head 20, and an axial length b of the grinding wheel 12b for small surface roughness becomes short by an axial t length corresponding to the head region T. In the forming method of the cylinder block 1, an entire surface of the bore inner peripheral surface is worked so as to be tapered by the grinding wheel 12a for large surface roughness, and then is applied to a finish working to become straight by the grinding wheel 12b for small surface roughness.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in honing work wherein liquid honing work using ice slurry as projection material is enlarging its application range in which damage is not given to a surface of a workpiece, and projection material is not left on the surface of the workpiece after work, but ice choking phenomenon in a spray gun is caused by ice grains of a large grain size mixed in ice slurry resulting in hindrance to stable honing. SOLUTION: This liquid honing device comprises an ice grain mixing tank 1 in which ice grains and water are supplied from an upper part, and in which these are mixed by an agitation propeller 15 installed downward in the tank to be taken out as ice slurry at a lower part, and a spray gun 8 to spray ice slurry supplied from the ice grain mixing tank 1 toward the surface of the workpiece. Above the agitation propeller 15 in the ice grain mixing tank 1, a mesh parting wall 18 to part the inside of the tank to an upper part and a lower part for prohibiting pass of the ice grains of a preliminarily set grain size or more downward is provided. An agitating rod 20 is provided above and under the mesh parting wall 18 to compose the liquid honing device.

The basic body is formed from a stack of disks (26, 28) made from different abrasive material. The disk axis (a) is tilted against the axis (A) of the basic body so that a transverse plane of the basic body cuts at least two disks of the stack. Preferred Features: The end disks (26.1, 26.5) of the stack are wedge-shaped and are covered by cover disks (22, 24) whose disk axis is coaxial to the axis of the basic body.
