TL;DR: In this article, a dressing tool is brought into contact with the honing wheel under a predetermined constant contact pressure and during the reciprocal feed of the dressing tool, the amount of the contact pressure is maintained constant so as to gradually increase the in-feed of the wheel.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for dressing a hone of a honing wheel which is used for honing a gear to be finished. A dressing tool is brought into contact with the honing wheel under a predetermined constant contact pressure and during the reciprocal feed of the dressing tool. The amount of the contact pressure is maintained constant so as to gradually increase the in-feed of the honing wheel. This is useful in decreasing the number of transverse feeds of the dressing tool.

TL;DR: The economic, environmental and social dimension of tool production and tool use are considered to understand sustainability issues of different bond types and the review of tool manufacturing is necessary to enable informed life cycle assessments or other sustainability analyses for grinding or honing.
Abstract: Grinding and honing processes are quality-defining operations in the production of many modern products. Process performance and product quality are contingent on selecting the correct abrasive tool for a specific application. Thus, tools with different bonding systems are used, namely resin bonded tools, vitrified bonded tools, and metallic bonded tools. Tool manufacturers have great knowledge in the choice and intricate production of these bond types and their countless variants. Most bond systems pass through mixing, forming, pressing, heat treatment, and post-processing steps. Single-layer metallic bonds can be generated by electroplating or brazing processes. This article reviews the manufacturing of tools with different bonding systems and discusses their ingredients. Furthermore, the economic, environmental and social dimension of tool production and tool use are considered to understand sustainability issues of different bond types. The review of tool manufacturing is necessary to enable informed life cycle assessments or other sustainability analyses for grinding or honing.

TL;DR: In this article, a grinder and an expansion member are installed in a processing hole of a workpiece to accelerate the grinder towards an outer side of a diametrical direction by the expansion member installed within the head.
Abstract: A honing method and honing control device (1) suitable for the honing having a large processing area is provided. The honing control device includes a grinder (7) and an expansion member for disposition in a processing hole of a workpiece. The amount of an expanding movement when the grinder contacts the inner surface of a gauge hole via the expansion member is stored as a target expansion amount by inserting a honing head (3) into the gauge hole having the same size as a target processing diameter of a master gauge (30). Then, a honing of an inner surface of the processing hole is performed by inserting the honing head within a processing hole (W1) of a workpiece (W) moving the grinder towards an outer side of a diametrical direction by the expansion member installed within the honing head to rotate the honing head. The honing is completed when the amount of the expanding movement of the grinder reaches a target expansion amount established by the master gauge.

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for grinding workpieces is obtained which includes attaching honing stones to a tool, each of the grinding stones including grinding particles and an electroconductive connection for fixing the grinding particles to each other.
Abstract: A process for grinding workpieces is obtained which includes attaching honing stones to a tool, each of the honing stones including grinding particles and an electroconductive connection for fixing the grinding particles to each other; grinding the workpieces with the honing stones by applying a honing liquid having substantially no electroconductive property to a region between the workpiece and the honing stones, the workpieces being successively ground during a series of processing periods, while interposing non-processing periods between the processing periods, each of the workpieces being ground in one of the processing periods; and performing an electrolytic dressing with respect to the honing stones by using an electrode provided to face the honing stones with a space therebetween, a voltage being applied between the honing stones and an electrode in the presence of an electroconductive liquid in the space between the honing stones and the electrode, the electrolytic dressing being carried out during the non-processing periods.
