TL;DR: In this article, a rotating shaft with a selected length and a pair of expansible and contractible honing tools spaced a selected distance apart and carried on the shaft is used for cylindrical inner surfaces.
Abstract: Apparatus for honing at least one of a spaced apart, coaxial pair of cylindrical inner surfaces. The apparatus includes a rotating shaft having a selected length; a pair of expansible and contractible honing tools spaced a selected distance apart and carried on the shaft, at least one of the tools comprising an abrasive stone; means for rotating the shaft; means for adjusting the distance between the honing tools; means for reciprocating the shaft to repeatedly transverse the honing tools over the coaxial cylindrical inner surfaces; and means for independently expandibly and contractibly adjusting each one of the honing tools independently of the other of the honing tools.

TL;DR: In this paper, the outside surface of a small diameter pipe is grained by pushing out a fin, whose extreme point is attached to a grind stone, directly by back pressure generated by pressure fluid, and expanding the grind stone in the radius direction.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To grind the outside surface of a small-diameter-pipe to be worked uniformly by pushing out a fin, whose extreme point is attached to a grind stone, directly by back pressure generated by pressure fluid, and expanding the grind stone in the radius direction.

TL;DR: In this paper, the shape of the roller bearing in contact with the honing tool lies in a plane parallel to the longitudinal axes of the backing rollers, and the bearing rotates and moves along the length of the rotating rolling board.
Abstract: The device has a first backing roller (1) with a profiled groove (7) which matches the angle of taper of the roller bearing (4). A second backing roller (2) with its longitudinal axis parallel to the first has a cylindrical surface (17). The bearing rotates and moves along the length of the rotating backing rollers. The developed shape of the roller bearing in contact with the honing tool lies in a plane parallel to the longitudinal axes of the backing rollers. The second backing roller need only be cylindrical irrespective of the shape of the bearing.

TL;DR: In this article, a technique for evaluating smooth condition in an engine bore inner circumferential face, hardly affected by brightness fluctuations, was proposed to evaluate smooth condition on the face after a honing work.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for evaluating smooth condition in an engine bore inner circumferential face, hardly affected by brightness fluctuations SOLUTION: The inner circumferential face 110 of the engine bore 100 is image-picked up by an imaging part 10 to generate an analytical image 200 of an evaluation object A power spectrum calculating part 32 applies two-dimensional Fourier transform to the analytical image 200 to generate a power spectrum image 210 for showing the distribution of power values with respect to respective two-dimensional space frequencies A determination part 34 calculates a ratio with respect to all the picture elements of which the value is substantially zero, in the power spectrum image 210 The ratio is reduced when fine unevenness exists in large number in a honing mesh or the like The ratio is compared with a threshold determined by an experiment to determine thereby the quality of the smooth condition on the face after a honing work COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

TL;DR: In this paper, a surface of an aluminum bore, where a hard grain is dispersed over at least a sliding part, is machined by a honing machine provided by a stick in a spindle doing reciprocation and rotation.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an aluminum bore which is favorable in wear resistance with less engine oil consumption. CONSTITUTION:When a surface of an aluminum bore 1, where a hard grain 2 is dispersed over at least a sliding part, is machined by a honing machine provided a honing stick in a spindle doing reciprocation and rotation, this aluminum bore surface machining method is featured that the spindle is rotated in either direction of right or left as reciprocating it and the bore surface is machined, and then the spindle is rotated in reverse to the rotation direction and the bore surface is finished by the honing stick.
