TL;DR: In this article, a utility-based taguchi loss function strategy was proposed for the multi-response optimization of electrochemical honing (ECH) process, which utilizes a composite utility function using the Taguchi loss functions of multiple ECH responses in selecting the optimal parametric settings such that the overall functional utility of the product is maximized.
Abstract: This paper presents a utility-based Taguchi loss function strategy for the multi-response optimization of electro-chemical honing (ECH) process. ECH is a precision micro-finishing technology that hybridizes electro-chemical machining and conventional honing principles to provide controlled functional work surface-generation and fast material removal capabilities in a unique single operation. The approach utilizes a composite utility function using the Taguchi loss functions of multiple ECH responses in selecting the optimal parametric settings such that the overall functional utility of the product is maximized. The use of the Taguchi loss functions ensures the process is robust against the random variations. Actual experiments confirm the feasibility of the strategy over a wide range of machining conditions employed in ECH.

TL;DR: A clamp-type garment hanger is defined by a pair of opposed jaw members between which a garment is hung as mentioned in this paper, and the opposed jaw has gripping members and opposed gripping surfaces.
Abstract: A clamp-type garment hanger defined by a pair of opposed jaw members between which a garment is hung. The opposed jaw members have gripping members and opposed gripping surfaces. The gripping members, opposed gripping surfaces and jaw members of one jaw member are formed from the same material, which may include either polystyrene, polypropylene, polyethylene, styrene-butadiene copolymers and blends, or polycarbonates. The other jaw member has bonded thereto an elastomer material for gripping the garment. To increase the coefficient of friction of the opposed gripping surfaces, the surfaces may be treated by engraving, acid etching, electrical discharge machining, vapor honing, or sandblasting.

TL;DR: A method for preparing aluminum and aluminum alloys includes the step of simultaneously honing the surface of the aluminum or aluminum alloy in a zincating solution as mentioned in this paper, which removes the aluminum oxide layer from the surface and deposits a layer of zinc on its surface.
Abstract: A method for preparing aluminum and aluminum alloys includes the step of simultaneously honing the surface of the aluminum or aluminum alloy in a zincating solution. The honing removes the aluminum oxide layer from the surface of the aluminum or aluminum alloy work piece while the zincating solution deposits a layer of zinc on its surface. The zincate-honing may be followed by electroplating.

TL;DR: A magnetorheological honing process for nano-finishing of cylindrical internal surfaces with the help of permanent magnets is designed and developed in this article, where the radial movement of magnetic tool surface is adjusted as per the internal diameter of different cylindular components and make it fixed before start of finishing so that it can maintain constant working gap while perform finishing.
Abstract: A novel magnetorheological honing process is designed and developed for nano-finishing of cylindrical internal surfaces with the help of permanent magnets. The radial movement of magnetic tool surface is adjusted as per the internal diameter of different cylindrical components and make it fixed before start of finishing so that it can maintain constant working gap while perform finishing. The present developed magnetic tool surface always constitutes higher magnetic field than the inner surface of ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic cylindrical workpiece. This is an important requirement to finish the internal surface of ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic cylindrical components because it ensures MR polishing fluid cannot stick on the workpiece surface while performing the finishing. Hence, present developed process is useful for finishing of ferromagnetic cylindrical molds, dies, hydraulic actuators, etc. for its better functional applications after the conventional honing or grinding process. The...
