Abstract: A method of producing a semiconductor device includes a device body producing step, electrically coupling leads and a semiconductor chip, and producing a device body by encapsulating the semiconductor chip by a resin package so that portions of the leads are exposed from the resin package, a honing step, carrying out a honing process using a polishing solution at least with respect to a resin flash adhered on the portions of the leads exposed from the resin package, an etching step, removing an unwanted stacked layer structure formed on the leads by carrying out an etching process after the honing step, and a plating step, carrying out a plating process with respect to the leads after the etching step to form a plated layer made of a soft bonding material. The honing step removes a portion of the unwanted stacked layer structure in addition to the resin flash.

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus and method for sharpening a cutting tool, including the grinding and honing of the cutting tool is described and illustrated, and a variety of tool holders allow the sharpening of different types of cutting tools.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for sharpening a cutting tool, including the grinding and honing of the cutting tool is described and illustrated. The apparatus comprises a base plate with a biasing frame mounted on the base plate. A tool holder is clamped to the biasing frame and releasably clamps a cutting tool, having an edge which is to be sharpened. A variety of tool holders allow the sharpening of different types of cutting tools. The cutting tool, and particularly, the edge thereof, is held in a stationary position and an abrasive member is moved with respect to the cutting edge of the tool. The apparatus forces the cutting edge of the tool against the abrasive member with a uniform amount of pressure and at a selected angle. Both the pressure and the selected angle are easily adjustable by the user. When the major variables, such as angle of sharpening and the pressure between the abrasive element and tool are fixed, an accurate, correct and reproducible sharpening will occur. A precise sharpening of the tool will automatically result since only the abrasive stone is moved back and forth across the base plate under the cutting edge of the tool.

TL;DR: In this article, a numerical model of elastohydrodynamic contact coupled with a multiscale surface texture model was developed that allows tracking the scale effect of surface features and their interactions on friction performance and lubricant flow under hydrodynamic lubrication conditions.
Abstract: Multistage abrasive finishing processes (grinding, polishing, honing, etc.) are commonly used to produce the geometrical properties of a surface to meet its technical functionalities in the operating characteristics of contacting parts in friction, relating to their durability and reliability (running-in performance, wear resistance, load-carrying capacity, etc.). Coarse abrasive grits followed progressively finer ones are used, which leads to a multiscale stratified surface texture. In this article, a numerical model of elastohydrodynamic (EHD) contact coupled to a multiscale surface texture model was developed that allows tracking the scale effect of surface features and their interactions on friction performance and lubricant flow under hydrodynamic lubrication conditions. Because the simulation model has as an input the surface topography and to overcome the variability in surface finish formation, textured surfaces at different stages of the finishing process were simulated (virtual texturing method)...
