TL;DR: In this article, the dominant mark pattern can be superimposed in a finishing operation, which has much finer honing marks and creates a plateau surface with diamond-shaped islands pointing in the working direction of the piston.
Abstract: When honing working cylinders for reciprocating piston-type machines or engines, e.g. internal combustion engines, unlike in conventional honing methods working takes place with a much higher axial speed than circumferential speed. This gives a mark pattern, which admittedly differs significantly from the axial direction, but runs more in the axial direction than in the circumferential direction. On the dominant mark pattern can be superimposed in a finishing operation a honing mark pattern, which has much finer honing marks and creates a plateau surface with diamond-shaped islands pointing in the working direction of the piston. A thus treated working cylinder, in the case of limited wear, leads to much lower oil consumption on the part of the engines.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for the manufacture of a workpiece having a corrected gear geometry and/or a modified surface structure, in particular by a hard finishing process, is presented.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for the manufacture of a workpiece having a corrected gear geometry and/or a modified surface structure, in particular by a hard finishing process, in particular generation grinding or honing. Provision is made in this respect that it is achieved by a direct generation of a wobble movement and/or of an eccentricity of the tool that a modification, in particular a profile modification or profile waviness, and/or a defined periodic flank waviness is generated on the active surface of the workpiece machined therewith.

TL;DR: An improved method for plating super abrasive materials onto the working portion of a honing tool, which method includes plating or otherwise coating a relatively thin layer of a composite material comprising a metal or metal alloy material having a friction reducing or lubricating type material occluded or otherwise associated therewith over the top of the bond already established between the abrasive particles and the working part of the tool, is presented in this article.
Abstract: An improved method for plating super abrasive materials onto the working portion of a honing tool, which method includes plating or otherwise coating a relatively thin layer of a composite material comprising a metal or metal alloy material having a friction reducing or lubricating type material occluded or otherwise associated therewith over the top of the bond already established between the abrasive particles and the working portion of the honing tool so as to substantially reduce and minimize the occurrence of having stock material build-up and collect between the abrasive particles, which stock build-up causes galling or scoring of the honed work surface during a honing operation. In the preferred embodiment, the composite material comprising the anti-galling coating surface is a nickel/phosphorous alloy material having micron-sized Teflon particles occluded therein. The present method substantially increases the quality of the finished work product as well as the overall service life of the honing tool itself. An improved honing tool construction is also produced through usage of the present method.

TL;DR: In this article, a tool with an outer and an inner operating surface is designed like cup wheels, which fit into one another, and are rotatable together, however, can be axially fed independent of one another.
Abstract: A device for the precision working of planar surfaces, in particular for the plane finishing, has a tool ( 13 ), which has an outer and an inner operating surface ( 36, 44 ). These are designed like cup wheels, which fit into one another, and are rotatable together, however, can be axially fed independent of one another. This is done with respect to the outer operating surface ( 36 ) by means of the spindle drive of a honing machine, which is preferably designed as a linear motor, whereas the inner operating surface ( 44 ) is fed through the feed drive ( 28 ) of the honing machine, which feed drive extends inside of the spindle and of the tool.
