TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus for fine-working or microfinishing of workpiece surfaces, particularly rotationally-symmetrically moved workpieces with oscillating or rotating tools such as honing stones or fine polishing stones, which are in-fed against the workpiece is described.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for fine-working or microfinishing of workpiece surfaces, particularly rotationally-symmetrically moved workpieces with oscillating or rotating tools such as honing stones or fine polishing stones, which are in-fed against the workpiece. Dependent on a measured parameter proportional to the machining force, the tool infeed is controlled such that a continuous workpiece material remove with constant removal speed is achieved. The reaction force is measured at any point in the flux of force to determine the machining force.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cylinder is made by hypereutectic Al-Si alloy whose wear surface is finished by usual honing process and the projection of the crystals is brought about by etching.
Abstract: The cylinder is made by hypereutectic Al-Si alloy whose wear surface is finished by usual honing process and the projection of the crystals is brought about by etching. The surface is not protected in any way. The piston has a similarly constituted and finished wear surface. The contact between piston and cylinder therefore takes place on the crystal surfaces, and etched recesses between the projecting crystals serve as oil reservoirs. Cylinder material may be Al-Si 17 Cu 4 Mg and piston material is pref. Si 16-26%, Cu 0.5-6% and any one of Fe, Ni, Mg, Mn, Z, Ti, alone or in combination 0.08-2.5% and Al remainder.

TL;DR: In this paper, a high-resolution geometric process model for force-controlled honing operations was developed, which utilizes numerical data of tools and workpieces from topographic scans, and applied to a micro-finishing process with different process parameter values.

TL;DR: In this article, a super abrasive grain metal bonded grinding wheel is made by dispersing soft abrasive grains including super abrasives grains and barium sulfate in sintering metal bonding containing metal particles and glass particles.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a long service life (wear resistance) and stable high cutting property of a grinding wheel used for precise cutting such as honing and superfinishing and polishing, and to provide a metal bonded grinding wheel having the long service life and stable high cutting property by discharging fine cut chips without generating clogging, even if using water-soluble oil excellent in cooling property, in particular. SOLUTION: This super abrasive grain metal bonded grinding wheel is made by dispersing soft abrasive grains including super abrasive grains and barium sulfate in sintering metal bonding containing metal particles and glass particles and integrating the sintering metal bonding and the soft abrasive grains by sintering. When the glass components of the sintering metal bonding are destroyed to generate a chip pocket, discharging performance is enhanced by a flow of the destroyed particle pieces by blending barium sulfate, and thereby there is an action to quickly and more surely form the chip pocket.
