TL;DR: The results show that the binding affinity of the La( III) complex is stronger than that of the Sm(III) complex and that ofThe ligand (L).
Abstract: The neutral mononuclear Ln(III) complexes (Ln = La, Sm) with 7-methoxychrom-one-3-carbaldehyde-isonicotinoyl hydrazone ligand (L) have been synthesized, characterized and investigated their interactions with calf-thymus DNA. The results show that the binding affinity of the La(III) complex is stronger than that of the Sm(III) complex and that of the ligand (L). Furthermore, the antioxidant activities of the ligand (L) and its Ln(III) complexes (Ln = La, Sm) were studied in detail.

TL;DR: The interpretation of the effect of different substituent in phenyl ring of arylazo pyridone dyes on their spectroscopic and structural properties was based on quantum chemical calculations performed by the density functional theory (DFT/M06-2X) method.

TL;DR: The synthesis, spectral characterization and crystal structure of 2-benzoylpyridine nicotinoyl hydrazone (HL) is reported and the existence of the compound in keto form in solid state is suggested by the single crystal X-ray analysis.
