TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the structure of the pyrazolone derivative N-(1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-propyl-pyrazolones-5)-salicylidene hydrazone (H2L) and its copper(II) complex [Cu2L2CH3OH]·2 CH3OH have been both synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, theoretical calculation and pharmacological testing.

TL;DR: The results suggest the bis-aliphatic hydrazone bond should find use alongside existing bioorthogonal click chemistries for bioconjugation, biomaterial synthesis, and controlled release applications.
Abstract: Rheological and small molecule kinetic studies were performed to study the formation and hydrolysis of the bis-aliphatic hydrazone bond. The rate of gelation was found to correspond closely with the rate of bond formation and the rate of gel relaxation with the rate of hydrolysis, indicating that small molecule kinetic studies can play an important role in material design. Furthermore, unlike aryl or acyl hydrazone bonds, the bis-aliphatic hydrazone bond forms rapidly under physiological conditions without requiring aniline catalysis yet maintains a pH-dependent rate of hydrolysis. These results suggest the bis-aliphatic hydrazone bond should find use alongside existing bioorthogonal click chemistries for bioconjugation, biomaterial synthesis, and controlled release applications.

TL;DR: An unprecedented one-step synthesis of N-substituted hydrazones by coupling of alcohols with hydrazine using a new manganese pincer complex under mild reaction conditions, thus liberating water and dihydrogen as the only byproducts.
Abstract: An unprecedented one-step synthesis of N-substituted hydrazones by coupling of alcohols with hydrazine is reported. This partial hydrogen-borrowing reaction is catalyzed by a new manganese pincer complex under mild reaction conditions, thus liberating water and dihydrogen as the only byproducts. Mechanistic insight, based on the observation of intermediates, is provided.

TL;DR: It was found that PdCl2(MeCN)2/hydrazone ligand 1e was a phosphine-free efficient catalyst system for a variety of substrates to produce the Mizoroki-Heck coupling products in good yields.
Abstract: Glyoxal bishydrazones 1 and pyridyl-hydrazone 2b were prepared and examined as a ligand for the Mizoroki−Heck cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides and olefin. We found that PdCl2(MeCN)2/hydrazone ligand 1e was a phosphine-free efficient catalyst system for a variety of substrates to produce the Mizoroki−Heck coupling products in good yields.
