TL;DR: Three-dimensional projection integral imaging using micro-convex-mirror arrays is presented, in which the viewing angle of more than 60 degrees was obtained, to the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the largest viewing angle demonstrated by a single integral imaging system.
Abstract: Three-dimensional projection integral imaging using micro-convex-mirror arrays is presented. In this scheme, a pseudoscopic to orthoscopic image conversion process is not required even if elemental images of direct camera pickup are used. In addition, a wide viewing angle without image flipping can be achieved even if optical barriers are not used. The feasibility of the proposed scheme was experimentally demonstrated, in which the viewing angle of more than 60 degrees was obtained. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest viewing angle demonstrated by a single integral imaging system.

TL;DR: An image receiving or reproducing apparatus wherein image data and additive information thereof, which are obtained by utilizing binocular view differences and acquiring thereby a three-dimensional image, are received from a communication line or read from a recording medium, respectively, is described in this article.
Abstract: An image receiving or reproducing apparatus wherein image data and additive information thereof, which are obtained by utilizing binocular view differences and acquiring thereby a three-dimensional image, are received from a communication line or read from a recording medium, respectively. The image receiving or reproducing apparatus detects the additive information indicative of a predetermined format used for three-dimensionally displaying the image data, and then three-dimensionally displays the image data in accordance with the predetermined format. In the case of the image receiving apparatus, a data reception part (151) receives multiplexed data including the image data and additive information, and a data separation part (152) separates the image data and additive information from each other. Then, a control part (153) causes, based on the additive information, an image conversion part (155) to convert the image data into the three-dimensional image in accordance with the predetermined format. Then, the three-dimensional image is displayed on a display part (156).

TL;DR: In this paper, a request reception unit receives a moving image transfer request from the terminal, and a model judgment unit judges the model of the terminal and converts the moving image data into a format corresponding to the model.
Abstract: A continuous frame-by-frame image display as a reduced-color moving image can be carried out in high quality on a high-resolution display device of a mobile terminal or the like. A request reception unit receives a moving image transfer request from the terminal, and a model judgment unit judges the model of the terminal. A moving image format conversion unit converts moving image data into a format corresponding to the model. If the terminal cannot carry out moving image display but can display a multimedia image wherein frames are continuously displayed one by one in high quality, a moving image conversion unit converts the moving image data into multimedia image data. At this time, a data size limit and the like of the terminal are considered. An image transmission unit sends the multimedia image data to the terminal.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to correct a defect in shape information obtained from the image of an object by using the method of least squares to compute a function f(i, j) approximating the shape of the blocks from non-defective measured values in the blocks.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an optimize image processing by appropriately correcting a defect in shape information obtained from the image of an object. SOLUTION: A distance image creation part 300 processes the image of an object to measure the distance to each point on the object. A blocking part 302 divides the measured values on blocks ζkl, and an approximation function computation part 304 uses the method of least squares to compute a function f(i, j) approximating the shape of the blocks ζkl from non-defective measured values in the blocks ζkl. A defect count determination part 306 determines whether a defect count in the blocks ζkl is smaller than a threshold or not, and an interpolation processing part 308 interpolates defects in the blocks ζkl with the function f(i, j) computed by the approximation function computation part 304. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing device capable of shortening a time required for image processing and an image processing method and a program of the photographing device. SOLUTION: A camera 1 for painting and calligraphy acquires a projection correction parameter for projecting a shape to the shape of a pedestal 13 from the shape of a pedestal image included in a photographed image. Also, the camera 1 for painting and calligraphy acquires a straight line included in a document image from the photographed image. The camera 1 for painting and calligraphy acquires the inclination angle of an original image straight line with respect to a straight line formed of a contour of the pedestal image from the straight line information of the document image instead of generating a projection correction image by the projection correction parameter. The camera 1 for painting and calligraphy acquires a rotation correction parameter of the document image on the basis of the acquired inclination angle. The camera 1 for painting and calligraphy performs image conversion on the basis of the projection correction parameter acquired from the shape of the pedestal image and the rotation correction parameter of the document image and acquires a corrected document image that is subjected to distortion correction and inclination correction. TL;DR: This work proposes a new technique to convert a binary image with halftone dots into its vector representation, which provides an efficient way of displaying cartoon-like images at any size with a limited amount of data.
Abstract: Vector representation of graphics has the advantage that the image can be displayed at any size. When the resolution of a bitmap image is changed, the lack of a line segment arises. In addition, moire occurs when the resolution of an image with halftone dots is changed. We propose a new technique to convert a binary image with halftone dots into its vector representation. Resolution conversion of a binary image can easily be performed without moire by using a continuous tone approximation of the halftone dots. First, we separate the area of halftone dots and line drawings in the image. Next, a continuous tone approximation is applied to the area of halftone dots. Then, conventional vectorization is applied to both continuous tone areas and line drawings. Finally, these components are mixed and reconstructed. Our approach provides an efficient way of displaying cartoon-like images at any size with a limited amount of data.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional video display system that needs physical processing of a polarized plate and cannot have coped with the case wherein an image (a latent image) is sequentially changed, the latent image being hidden in the video image and visible when a user wears polarization eyeglasses. SOLUTION: The video display system disclosed herein includes: two image projectors; a polarization means; and a display image data generating apparatus. The display image data generating apparatus gives original image data and latent image data to the first image projector and gives display image data resulting from superimposing the latent image on an original image to the second image projector. The display image data generating apparatus generates the display image data in a way of compensating a lost part of the original image by superimposing the latent image on the original image. Each of the image projectors uses an image conversion means to convert the received display image data so that corresponding pixels are displayed mutually on the same position on a screen on the basis of a prescribed parameter and uses image projection means to project the converted data. The image data are polarized through polarization means so that video lights projected by the two image projectors reach different polarization states. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
