Abstract: An example-based 2D to 3D image conversion method, a computer readable medium therefor, and a system are provided. The embodiments are based on an image database with depth information or with which depth information can be generated. With respect to a 2D image to be converted into 3D content, a matched background image is found from the database. In addition, graph-based segmentation and comparison techniques are employed to detect the foreground of the 2D image so that the relative depth map can be generated from the foreground and background information. Therefore, the 3D content can be provided with the 2D image plus the depth information. Thus, users can rapidly obtain the 3D content from the 2D image automatically and the rendering of the 3D content can be achieved.

Abstract: The electrophoretic display (EPD) has dominated the panel used in electronic readers. However, getting more than 16 observable gray levels on an EPD is still a big challenge. A true color image should be converted into a 16 gray level image for displaying it on an EPD. In this paper, we propose an image processing tool that combines contrast enhancement and the modified Nasik pattern halftoning to deal with the problems in the image conversion chain. The experimental results show that the processed image has preserved more image textures after the image data are quantized into 16 gray levels1.

Abstract: The paper presents a study on color to gray image conversion from a novel point of view: face detection. To the best knowledge of the authors, research in such a specific topic has not been conducted before. Our work reveals that the standard NTSC conversion is not optimal for face detection tasks, although it may be the best for use to display pictures on monochrome televisions. It is further found experimentally with two AdaBoost-based face detection systems that the detect rates may vary up to 10% by simply changing the parameters of the RGB to Gray conversion. On the other hand, the change has little influence on the false positive rates. Compared to the standard NTSC conversion, the detect rate with the best found parameter setting is 2.85% and 3.58% higher for the two evaluated face detection systems. Promisingly, the work suggests a new solution to the color to gray conversion. It could be extremely easy to be incorporated into most existing face detection systems for accuracy improvement without introduction of any extra cost in computational complexity.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for measuring clothes dimension of human body online, comprising a network video transmission device, an image pre-processing device, an image conversion device and a three-dimensional dimension measurement device; the network video transmission device is used for guiding the standing posture and position of the human to be measured; furthermore, the images of the human body on forward surface, side surface and back surface are captured; the human images of three angles are guided in the image pre-processing device, thus extracting human profile; the human profile is input to the image conversion device to generate and correct a three-dimensional human model; and the needed human dimension is extracted on the three-dimensional human model by the three-dimensional model dimension measurement device. The method has extremely strong applicability and operability, sufficiently utilizes the most common equipment such as household network platforms, general computers, general video devices and the like to measure the human body, needs no special hardware equipments, and has simple, convenient and quick operation procedure.

SOLUTION: A super-resolution processing unit 21 converts the input image into an SR image having a higher resolution by super-resolution processing using the input image, and the other input image including the same subject as that of the input image. A diagonal interpolation processing unit 22 performs edge enhancement processing so as to convert the input image into an enhancement image having a higher resolution. A weight computing unit 43 computes weight using a motion mask showing an area of the moving subject on the input image and a weight map in which lines showing the subject on the input image are displayed. An adder unit 44 performs weight addition of the SR image and the enhancement image using the computed weight to generate the output image. Abstract: An image deblurring system deblurs motion blurred images of a video stream captured from a moving object. An image deblurring method selects a blurred image from the video stream, selects blurred pixels from the blurred image, and calculates a movement offset for each of the blurred pixels according to coordinates of the blurred pixel in a frequency domain during the movement of the moving object. The method generates a point spread function according to the movement offset, and generates an image conversion formula according to the point spread function. The method converts each of the blurred pixels into a sharp pixel according to the image conversion formula, and generates a sharp image based on all of the sharp pixels.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a corresponding device for automatically recognizing number symbols. The method comprises the following steps: shooting images of plate blank numbers, storing character height-width ratio corresponding to different character data information, and processing the shot images of the plate blank numbers, wherein the step of processing the images comprises image conversion, image enhancement, denoising, binarization, character segmentation, extraction of characteristic quantity, and character recognition. The method and the device not only adopt various effective measures to remove interferences so as to clarify the image according to the characteristics of field handwritten characters, but also grasp that each writing handwriting has the characteristic of specific rule character height-width ratio, and after performing necessary treatments on the character images, the method and the device transfer the pre-statistical character height-width ratio according to the treatment results to perform reasonable segmentation so as to ensure the accuracy of subsequent recognitions. Thus, the method and the device solve the bottleneck problems appearing in the full-automatic productions of iron and steel enterprises, and improve the production efficiency and the management level.

Abstract: Conversion of text-based images to vector graphics (VG) is disclosed. The text-based images may include images of equations, custom typefaces, or other types of text that may not be included in a font selection of an optical character recognition (OCR) device or an application stored on a viewing device. A textual image may be converted from a raster graphics (RG) image to a VG image, which may enable resizing and alignment of the VG image with body text. In some aspects, the server may determine a body size of a reference character in the VG image. The server may determine a baseline of the VG image that may be used to align the image with the body text.

Abstract: A visual monitoring device for a flotation froth image is used in the beneficiation process monitoring and the optimization control field. The monitoring device consists of a high-resolution industrial camera, a high-frequency light resource and hardware equipment like a computer. By debugging and installing various hardware equipment, particularly installing a double protective cover, the device reaches IP65 protection class and meets the requirements of acquiring a high-quality froth image and real-time processing in the respect of the device performances. The image acquisition method is as follows: the industrial camera acquires an image of a flotation tank froth layer; video signals are digitized, and digital video signals are generated and transmitted to an image conversion card by an optical fiber interface and an optical fiber. The image conversion card converts the protocol data of the camera into the digital signals which are suitable for computer processing and reads the data to a memory of the computer by a hardware driver interface, and an image processing and application program reads, analyzes and processes the froth image.

The image processing apparatus receives from the driver an input of a display output condition, and determines a current state of the own vehicle. The image processing apparatus acquires the image conversion parameters based on the display output condition and the current state of the own vehicle, and converts images captured by the in-vehicle cameras, by using the acquired image conversion parameters, and outputs the images.

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for detecting image touch points, which comprises the following steps: (1) converting an original image shot by infrared camera into a grey-scale image and storing the grey-scale image; (2) performing the obfuscation of the grey-scale image in the step (1); (3) subtracting the grey-scale image subjected to the obfuscation in the step (2) from the grey-scale image in the step (1); (4) subjecting an image obtained after the subtraction in the step (3) to de-noising; and (5) subjecting an image obtained after the de-noising in the step (4) to binaryzation to obtain a final touch point image. The invention also provides a device for detecting image touch points, which comprises an image conversion unit, an image removal unit and an image processing unit. The method and the device can effectively eliminate the interference of non-touch points in the image such as a palm shape, precisely detect the touch points in the image and improve positioning precision. Meanwhile, the method and the device have the advantages of simple calculation, high processing speed and the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for carrying out data conversion and reproduction to prevent the image quality of moving image data from being deteriorated, and a method. SOLUTION: In carrying out downsampling for reducing the sample number of the image data by 1/M, a band restriction is conducted to the moving image data by a low pass filter based on a prevention band frequency fs whose harmonic component of a degree of K or higher out of harmonic components generated by down sampling is not superimposed with an original signal component. This results in generating compressed data by carrying out the downsampling to the data to which the band restriction is conducted. This configuration not only prevents folding distortion generated by a high degree harmonic but also generates the high quality compressed data image and reproduced image that do not greatly damage the original signal harmonic component. Abstract: An image converter includes an image converting unit and a determining unit. The image converting unit acquires frame image groups each including one or more frame images from original image data, and outputs the frame image(s) of each acquired group, converting its/their image quality based on determination by the determining unit, generating foreign-device-use image data including the frame image groups including the frame image(s). The determining unit determines necessity of first-image-quality retention of the frame image(s) of each group based on whether it/they satisfies/satisfy a condition. The image converting unit outputs the frame image(s) of the group at the first image quality if it/they is/are determined by the determining unit as necessary to retain at the first image quality, or a second image quality if determined as unnecessary to retain at the first image quality.

A displaying area extraction portion 190 determines a display area in the synthesized image held in the image memory 180 based on the specified display scale, and extracts the image included in this display area.
