TL;DR: In this paper, the first, second and third memories are provided as a frame buffer having a 3x3 memory block organization, and the phase difference between the two is measured and circuitry alters the predetermined read-out sequence to ensure that a field memory to be read will not also be required for simultaneously storing a next television field.
Abstract: Image conversion method and apparatus that provides for (a) storing in a first memory a first image field; (b) storing in a second memory a second image field; (c) reading the first and the second memories; (d) simultaneously displaying on a display screen the first and the second image fields as a single image frame; and (e) while performing the step of reading the method includes a step of storing in a third memory a third image field. The first, second and third memories are provided as a frame buffer having a 3x3 memory block organization. For image fields numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...n.. the system of the invention reads the image fields two at a time in accordance with a predetermined sequence given by: 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, 4 and 5, ... (n - 1) and n, n and (n + 1). A high resolution frame length is selected to be longer than or shorter than a television field period. The phase difference between the two is measured and circuitry alters the predetermined read-out sequence to ensure that a field memory to be read will not also be required for simultaneously storing a next television field.

TL;DR: In this article, a preprocessor fills the entries of the mapping array with indices of elements in a source scan line that map according to the image transformation to the elements of a destination scan line.
Abstract: The speed of bitmap block transfers involving image transformations between source and destination bitmaps is increased by forming a mapping array with entries corresponding one-to-one to elements of destination bitmap scan lines. A preprocessor fills the entries of the mapping array with indices of elements in a source scan line that map according to the image transformation to the elements of a destination scan line that correspond with the array entries. A block transfer compiler can then generate code to perform the transfer which uses the mapping array in an indexed look-up operation to determine the source element to transfer to each element of each scan line of the destination bitmap.

TL;DR: The effectiveness of the proposed grayscale conversion is confirmed by the comparative analysis performed on the color-to-gray benchmark dataset across 10 existing algorithms based on the standard objective measures, namely normalized cross-correlation, color contrast preservation ratio, color content fidelity ratio, E score and subjective evaluation.
Abstract: This paper provides an alternative framework for color-to-grayscale image conversion by exploiting the chrominance information present in the color image using singular value decomposition (SVD). In the proposed technique of color-to-grayscale image conversion, a weight matrix corresponds to the chrominance components is derived by reconstructing the chrominance data matrix (planes a* and b*) from the eigenvalues and eigenvectors computed using SVD. The final grayscale converted image is obtained by adding the weighted chrominance data to the luminous intensity which is kept intact for the CIEL*a*b* color space of the given color image. The effectiveness of the proposed grayscale conversion is confirmed by the comparative analysis performed on the color-to-gray benchmark dataset across 10 existing algorithms based on the standard objective measures, namely normalized cross-correlation, color contrast preservation ratio, color content fidelity ratio, E score and subjective evaluation.

TL;DR: In this article, an image display device includes a region of interest extraction unit, a parallax image generation unit and a 3D image display unit, which includes a depth threshold, depth image signal including information on distance in three-dimensional space between viewpoint and each pixel of two-dimensional image including region of interests desired to be noted by observer.
Abstract: An image display device includes region of interest extraction unit, parallax image generation unit and 3D image display unit. Region of interest extraction unit generates depth image signal by depth image conversion employing depth threshold, depth image signal including information on distance in three-dimensional space between viewpoint and each pixel of two-dimensional image including region of interest desired to be noted by observer, depth image conversion being such that depth value indicating distance between viewpoint and each pixel of two-dimensional image is converted to depth value for 2D display when depth value is equal to or larger than depth threshold. Parallax image generation unit generates both-eye parallax image having parallax in region of interest alone, from two-dimensional image and image obtained by conversion of region of interest image representing region of interest at each of both-eye viewpoints, based on two-dimensional image and depth image signal. 3D image display unit displays both eye parallax image.
