Abstract: The paper discusses an approach involving digital image processing and geometric logic for recognition of two dimensional shapes of objects such as squares, circles, rectangles and triangles as well as the color of the object. This approach can be extended to applications like robotic vision and computer intelligence. The methods involved are three dimensional RGB image to two dimensional black and white image conversion, color pixel classification for object-background separation, area based filtering and use of bounding box and its properties for calculating object metrics. The object metrics are compared with predetermined values that are characteristic of a particular object’s shape. The recognition of the shape of the objects is made invariant to their rotation. Further, the colors of the objects are recognized by analyzing RGB information of all pixels within each object. The algorithm was developed and simulated using MATLAB. A set of 180 images of the four basic 2D geometric shapes and the three primary colors (red, green and blue) were used for analysis and the results were 99% accurate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an all-around camera for improving uniformity of the brightness of an image and achieving acceleration of an image conversion of the data acquired by a camera.SOLUTION: In the all-around camera, a writing-switch part 25 stores a signal output from a signal processing part 5 until the signal reaches a prescribed amount in one of first internal memories 6a, 6b, and changes a storage destination and repeats the storing into the other first internal memory when the storing of the signal reaches the prescribed amount. Further, a signal is output to a signal correction part 24 from one of the first internal memories whose storage of the signal reaches the prescribed amount. The signal correction part corrects the input signal based on a correction factor corresponding to a position inside an image pickup device, and outputs a corrected signal to a data conversion part 10. The data conversion part subjects the input corrected signal to compressive conversion into an image signal, and the image signal is sequentially input to an external memory 3 by an input/output control part 7.

SOLUTION: An image processing script generating section 6a generates an image processing script so that an image by an input device and an image by an output device are visually almost equivalent based on device characteristic information DI in the input device receiving image data ID and the output device providing an output of the image data ID and also based on user image adjustment instruction information UI when an image processing instruction comes from a user instruction information decoding section 4. An image conversion section 6b applies color reproduction processing and spatial generating circuit characteristic conversion processing to the image data ID included in a prescribed image file IF stored in the image storage section 1a and provides an output of the result to a prescribed output device.
