TL;DR: In this article, a configuration for generating a left-eye image or a right-eye view of a 2D image to be applied to a 3D image displaying, based on a two-dimensional (2D) image, is presented.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a configuration for generating an image signal to be stereoscopically viewed by optimum signal processing corresponding to the reliability of depth information.SOLUTION: Provided is a configuration for generating a left-eye image or a right-eye image to be applied to three-dimensional (3D) image displaying, based on a two-dimensional (2D) image. In the configuration, depth information by image signal area unit and depth reliability information are inputted or generated, so as to perform image conversion control, based on the kinds of information. Depth information by image area unit constituting a 2D image signal and the reliability of the depth information are inputted or generated, so as to change a conversion processing mode for converting the 2D image into a 3D image, based on the kinds of information, for example, or to perform controlling the application level of a parallax emphasis signal, etc. By performing these kinds of processing, optimum image conversion is performed, which corresponds to the depth information of the 2D image and the depth reliability.

TL;DR: In this article, an image conversion apparatus (100) extracts from among pixel rows parallel to an object pixel row, a pixel row of y = 7 as a first pixel row overlapping an aperture shape (101).
Abstract: A reduction in processing time of a process giving a blurring effect is achieved. An image conversion apparatus (100) extracts from among pixel rows parallel to an object pixel row, a pixel row of y =7 as a first pixel row overlapping an aperture shape (101). The image conversion apparatus (100) further extracts a pixel row of y =4 as a second pixel row having the number of pixels successively overlapping the aperture shape (101) equal to or greater than that of the first pixel row. The image conversion apparatus (100) calculates a value of a second pixel in the case of converting an original image (IN), by referring to a storage unit that stores a value of a first pixel in the case of converting the original image (IN). For example, the image conversion apparatus (100) defines an average of the value of the first pixel in the case of converting the original image (IN), a value of a diffusion source pixel (IN[5][2]), and a diffusion source pixel (IN[5][3]) as the value of the second pixel in the case of converting the original image (IN).

TL;DR: This paper develops the fixed-point image processing programs that will be converted to the hardware module including light-weight fixed- point calculators, concentrating on the image conversions such as scaling, rotation and shear.
Abstract: High-level synthesis (HLS) automatically converts the software program in a high-level language to the hardware behavior in a hardware description language. Generally, the image processing programs have been written in floating-point format. Thus, inputting such conventional image processing programs, the HLS tool generates the hardware modules with many floating-point calculators. The floating-point calculator generally requires a large amount of hardware resources. Thus, this paper develops the fixed-point image processing programs that will be converted to the hardware module including light-weight fixed-point calculators, concentrating on the image conversions such as scaling, rotation and shear. In the experiment, we confirm the effect of the fixed-point programming for the HLS compared with the floating point one.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a method to easily and quickly create a character image to which features different from the features of a subject are added, by clipping a face part from a digital camera and sending it to an image service site.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly create a character image to which features different from the features of a subject are added.SOLUTION: When a person 601 is photographed by a first operation of a shutter key, a face part 602 thereof is clipped and transmitted from a digital camera to an image service site. Then, the image service site receives it and converts it into a head-part character image 603 according to the features of the face part 602. Further, when a kiwi fruit 604 is placed within a cursor C and photographed by a second operation of the shutter key, an image part of the kiwi fruit 604 is clipped and transmitted from the digital camera 1 to the image service site. Then, the image service site receives it, converts it into a body character image 605 according to the features of the kiwi fruit 604, composes the head-part character image 603 with the body character image 605 to create a full-body character image 606, and transmits it to the digital camera.

TL;DR: In this paper, the first layout information for printing-specific photograph data obtained by defining a layout of a print is combined with a recipe file, and an image conversion process is performed on the printing specific photograph data, based on the combined recipe file.
Abstract: First layout information for printing-specific photograph data obtained by defining a layout of a print is combined with a recipe file, and an image conversion process is performed on the printing-specific photograph data, based on the combined recipe file. Second layout information associated with the printing-specific photograph data subjected to a CMYK conversion is created. Layout data in which the first layout information is replaced with the second layout information is used as print data. This provides the print subjected to an image correction process suitable for the photograph arranged for the layout and an individual image correction process required for each subject of a photograph, and improves processing efficiency. An output device including a RIP processor further includes an image conversion processor for creating a recipe file and performing a CMYK conversion process and a correction process on the printing-specific photograph data represented in an RGB color system, based on the recipe file. If color reproduction is improper as a result of proof printing, the image conversion processor of the output device sets a recipe file for the printing-specific photograph data again, and then performs the image conversion process again and an output process. This provides suitable print data without the need to returning to the process in a layout data generation device to modify the entire layout data.
