TL;DR: In this article, an image processing apparatus having an image sensing unit and a subject detection unit for performing a process of detecting a subject in an image inputted from a single image sensor, has a detection size operation unit that sets a resolution of a target object to be detected by the subject detector, and an image conversion unit that converts a resolution based on the resolution of the target object set by the detection size operator.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus having an image sensing unit and a subject detection unit for performing a process of detecting a subject in an image inputted from said image sensing unit, has a detection size operation unit that sets a resolution of a target object to be detected by the subject detection unit, and an image conversion unit that converts a resolution of the input image, based on the resolution of the target object set by the detection size operation unit. The subject detection unit performs the process of detecting the subject in the image whose resolution has been converted by the image conversion unit.

TL;DR: In this article, typical hexagonal coordinates and addressing schemes, as well as hexagonal based image processing and applications are fully reviewed, and general reasons that hexagonally sampled images are chosen for research are introduced.
Abstract: Using hexagonal grids to represent digital images have been studied for more than 40 years. Increased processing capabilities of graphic devices and recent improvements in CCD technology have made hexagonal sampling attractive for practical applications and brought new interests on this topic. The hexagonal structure is considered to be preferable to the rectangular structure due to its higher sampling efficiency, consistent connectivity and higher angular resolution and is even proved to be superior to square structure in many applications. Since there is no mature hardware for hexagonal-based image capture and display, square to hexagonal image conversion has to be done before hexagonal-based image processing. Although hexagonal image representation and storage has not yet come to a standard, experiments based on existing hexagonal coordinate systems have never ceased. In this paper, we firstly introduced general reasons that hexagonally sampled images are chosen for research. Then, typical hexagonal coordinates and addressing schemes, as well as hexagonal based image processing and applications, are fully reviewed.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for associating a portion of a stereoscopic image with a perceived depth is described, which is based on determining offset values that each indicate a displacement between image data in a first image of a stereo pair and corresponding images in a second image of the stereoscopic pair.
Abstract: A method for associating a portion of a stereoscopic image with a perceived depth is described. The method includes determining offset values that each indicate a displacement between image data in a first image of a stereoscopic pair and corresponding image data in a second image of the stereoscopic pair. The displacement affects a perceived depth of a point represented by the image data and the corresponding image data. The method also includes identifying image data in the second image that is not associated with a valid offset value, generating a supplementary offset value using valid offset values associated with image data substantially near the image data in the second image, and associating the image data in the second image with the supplementary offset value.

TL;DR: In this paper, translation handles are set on vertices of a conversion source image frame by a mouse, and the image within the frame is operated in accordance with the shape of the translation frame.
Abstract: Translation handles are set on vertices of a conversion source image frame by a mouse. Frame move processing, enlargement/reduction processing, rotation processing, and deforming processing are performed in accordance with the number and positions of the set translation handles. The image within the frame is operated in accordance with the shape of the conversion source image frame, and the operated image is displayed within the conversion destination image frame. In geometric conversion which requires enlargement/reduction and rotation and preserves parallelism of lines, image conversion is performed by one processing including addition instructions and not including multiplication and division calculations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the pixel and its encompassed subpixel area are associated with a plurality of macrodetectors and the image processing assembly is able to render each subpixel as an edge when magnitude of the centroid of light intensity is greater than a predetermined threshold.
Abstract: An image detection and pixel processing system includes a plurality of detector elements for receiving an image. The detector elements are subdivided into a plurality of macrodetectors, with each macrodetector constituting four or more detector elements, and with each macrodetector providing information for determining both a total light intensity value within the macrodetector and a centroid of light intensity indicative of light intensity position within the macrodetector. An image processing assembly receives information from the plurality of macrodetectors, with the image processing assembly relating a pixel and its encompassed subpixel area to each corresponding macrodetector, and further determining the total light intensity within the pixel and the centroid of light intensity within the subpixel. The image processing assembly is capable of rendering each subpixel area as an edge when magnitude of the centroid of light intensity is greater than a predetermined threshold.
