TL;DR: In this paper, a plurality of image processing devices (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20) having different resolutions and a central image file or data base (20) are deployed in the system.
Abstract: The system includes a plurality of image processing devices (10, 12, 14, 16, 18) having different resolutions and a central image file or data base (20) In a sending device, an original image to be sent is decomposed to a base image (CBI) and at least one error compensation data (ECD) The original image is first converted to a lower resolution image (LRI) by a pel conversion technique The lower resolution image is then used to predict the original image The predicted image is compared with the original image and a predition error therebetween is coded to obtain a first error compensation data The lower resolution image becomes a new original image and this process is repeated until a base image having the lowest resolution in the system is obtained Such image information comprising the base image and the error compensation data is sent to the image data base A receiving device receives image information having a resolution corresponding to that of the receiving device, reconstructs a base image, predicts a one step higher resolution image (HRI) therefrom, adds the last error compensation data to the higher resolution image, and repeats such prediction and addition until the original image is reconstructed

TL;DR: In this article, the search and readout of the image files are controlled by different controllers, so that a desired image file can be obtained for a short time, and a controller can control the readout from the photo disc device in accordance with the memory capacity of the second memory device and with the information quantity of the selected image files selected by the selecting circuit.
Abstract: There is an information searching apparatus comprising: a photo disc device in which a plurality of image files are stored; a selecting circuit to select and read out one or a plurality of image files from among the image files stored in the photo disc device in accordance with a predetermined condition; a second memory device such as a semiconductor memory or a photo magnetic disc device to store the one or a plurality of image files read out by the selecting circuit; and a controller to control the readout of the image files from the photo disc device in accordance with the memory capacity of the second memory device and with the information quantity of the image files selected by the selecting circuit. In this apparatus, the search and readout of the image files are controlled by different controllers, so that a desired image file can be obtained for a short time.

TL;DR: In this article, a reduced image composition part 3 composes one image of 16 reduced images in a specific array, which is then sent to an expansion processing part 8 which expands and restores the compressed reduced composite image and sends the resulting image of an image output part 9, thereby displaying or printing the image on a display device such as a CRT or on a dot printer.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily retrieve a target image by performing the retrieval not only on the basis of data in ID code, but also visually. CONSTITUTION:The image electric signal of an original picture outputted by an image input part 1 is sent to a reduction processing part 2 as well, and a reduced image composition part 3 composes one image of 16 reduced images in a specific array. An operator who retrieves an image indicates image index input on a keyboard provided to a controller 6. The image file device 7 reads an image index (reduced composite image) out and sends it to the controller 6. It is further sent from the controller 6 to an expansion processing part 8, which expands and restores the compressed reduced composite image and sends the resulting image of an image output part 9, thereby displaying or printing the image on a display device such as a CRT or on a dot printer.

TL;DR: An electronic camera capable of delivering one image frame of video information in 1 ms has been designed around the TH 7882 solid-state area array image sensor (a single-field, frame transfer organization charge-coupled device), compatible with the camera's applications for analyzing rapidly occurring phenomena.
Abstract: An electronic camera capable of delivering one image frame of video information in 1 ms has been designed around the TH 7882 solid-state area array image sensor (a single-field, frame transfer organization charge-coupled device. The prototype uses an image format set to 100 x 100 pixels and a 100 /Is integration time. The stroboscopic type of illumination, called for by the image sensor's single-field configuration, is compatible with the camera's applications for analyzing rapidly occurring phenomena. In this operating mode, the TH 7882 has a CTF (contrast transfer function) of 80 % at the Nyquist frequency and a sensitivity of 9.6

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose to enable more detailed and complicated retrieving items by accumulating control information concerning retrieving data in the voluminous memory system of the central computer, which is used to enable the presetting of more detailed retrieving items.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable presetting of more detailed and complicated retrieving items by accumulating control information concerning retrieving data in the voluminous memory system of the central computer. CONSTITUTION: The image file retrieving device (retrieving terminal device) 1 retrieves the image file in the memory device 2, and has the function of outputting the desired image data on the displayer 4 or printer 6. The memory device 3 is RAM comprising SC memory or the like and is used to store the list of retrieving results from the central computer 7 and other data. The central computer 7 is joined with the image file retriever 1 by communications circuit, etc., and retains control information regarding image data in the memory system 8. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a changeover means which switches the vertical synchronism and start of the image information and/or the horizontal synchronism of the information depending whether the signal from the device B or C or the signal generated from a CCD control circuit 603 of the device A-1 and a CPU614 controls it.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To allow one reader to cope with plural interfaces by providing a means changing over the vertical synchronism and start or horizontal synchronism of image information depending whether they are conducted by a signal from an external device or a signal generated in the own device. CONSTITUTION:An image reader A processing a signal from CCD image sensor reading sections 601, 601' at image processing sections 602, 602' and transmitting image information is connected to a recorder B and an image file controller C by cables, respectively. The changeover means which switches the vertical synchronism and start of the image information and/or the horizontal synchronism of the image information depending whether the signal from the device B or C or the signal generated from a CCD control circuit 603 of the device A is provided to an operating section A-1 and a CPU614 controls it. Thus, one picture processor copes with both systems of digital copier and image file thereby reducing the cost and space.

TL;DR: In this article, the capability of identifying a document on the basis of index information was improved by using a simple, easy-to-identify code as a retrieval key firstly and then using a partical image of a document as index information.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve greatly the capability of identifying a document on the basis of index information by using a simple, easy-to-identify code as a retrieval key firstly and using a partical image of a document as index information, and thus performing retrieval processing in two stages. CONSTITUTION:Documents 1 and 1' are read by an image input device 3 and converted into pieces of image information, which are stored in a document image file 6 successively. Further, images of proper parts used as indexes are registered in a file 8 and code information is registered in a file 7 at the same time. When retrieval is performed, the number of documents to be retrieved is limited within a specific range on a keyboard 4 as code information, i.e. key. Index images are taken out of the file 8 and displayed on a display device 2, and the corresponding document image is fetched out of the file 6 and displayed on the display device, by specifying a desired index image when it is found.
