TL;DR: In this paper, a data recording system for CD-ROM or similar recording medium a data file containing data such as compressed audio and video data and an index file containing index data for searching the individual data of the data file.
Abstract: A data recording system for recording in a CD-ROM or similar recording medium a data file containing data such as compressed audio and video data and an index file containing index data for searching the individual data of the data file. The data stored in the data file are recorded in a CD-ROM in three hierarchical stages, i.e., titles, scenes and shots or chapters, scenes and clips. The index file has a hierarchical format associated with that of the data file in order to manage the data of the data file in consecutive stages.

TL;DR: In this article, a data file is made accessible while being offline by converting the data file from a native format to a preview format, storing the file in the preview format in a primary storage that is locally available and moving, after the conversion to the preview file, the data files in the native file to a secondary storage.
Abstract: Techniques for providing data preview before recalling large data files are disclosed. In one aspect, a data file is made accessible while being offline by converting the data file from a native format to a preview format, storing the data file in the preview format in a primary storage that is locally available and moving, after the conversion to the preview format, the data file in the native format to a secondary storage. When a viewing request is received for the data file, the data file in the preview format is displayed to fulfill the viewing request.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a full-view spherical image format which is based on the geodesic division of a sphere, in comparison with the conventional 3D array representation which consists of five parallelograms, which is a simple 2D array representations.
Abstract: This paper proposes a full-view spherical image format which is based on the geodesic division of a sphere. In comparison with the conventional 3D array representation which consists of five parallelograms, the proposed spherical image format is a simple 2D array representation. The algorithms of finding the neighboring pixels given a pixel of a spherical image and mapping between spherical coordinate and spherical image pixel are given also.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for software installation and pre-setup, the installation comprising of downloading image files to a target computer during manufacture, a partition image file being used for partitioning the target computer's storage device into a first, a second and a third partition; boot-up files are stored in the third partition and at least one operating system (OS) image file is stored in second partition; the computer merges the first and second partitions then explodes the appropriate OS image file into the resulting merged partition.
Abstract: A method for software installation and pre-setup, the installation comprising of downloading image files to a target computer during manufacture, a partition image file being used for partitioning the target computer's storage device into a first, a second and a third partition; boot-up files are stored in the third partition and at least one operating system (OS) image file is stored in the second partition. The method of pre-setup comprises executing the boot-up files when a user powers on the computer for a first time, whereupon an OS selection frame is presented. Upon user OS selection, the computer merges the first and second partitions then explodes the appropriate OS image file into the resulting merged partition. The boot-up files remaining in the third partition are executed during a first reboot, subsequently, the third partition is hidden and the OS in the merged partition executed during a second reboot.
