TL;DR: The core of SCIFIO is its modular definition of formats, the design of which clearly outlines the components of image I/O to encourage extensibility, facilitated by the dynamic discovery of the SciJava plugin framework.
Abstract: No gold standard exists in the world of scientific image acquisition; a proliferation of instruments each with its own proprietary data format has made out-of-the-box sharing of that data nearly impossible. In the field of light microscopy, the Bio-Formats library was designed to translate such proprietary data formats to a common, open-source schema, enabling sharing and reproduction of scientific results. While Bio-Formats has proved successful for microscopy images, the greater scientific community was lacking a domain-independent framework for format translation. SCIFIO (SCientific Image Format Input and Output) is presented as a freely available, open-source library unifying the mechanisms of reading and writing image data. The core of SCIFIO is its modular definition of formats, the design of which clearly outlines the components of image I/O to encourage extensibility, facilitated by the dynamic discovery of the SciJava plugin framework. SCIFIO is structured to support coexistence of multiple domain-specific open exchange formats, such as Bio-Formats’ OME-TIFF, within a unified environment. SCIFIO is a freely available software library developed to standardize the process of reading and writing scientific image formats.

TL;DR: In this article, the optical data is projected onto at least one predefined two-dimensional plane, and a pixel value for a point of optical data on the 2D plane is calculated according to the image data.
Abstract: One or more systems, devices, and/or methods for generating path side imagery are disclosed. For example, a method includes receiving optical data measured in three-dimensional geographic coordinates and image data from at least one image bubble. The optical data is projected onto at least one predefined two-dimensional plane. A pixel value for a point of the optical data on the two-dimensional plane is calculated according to the image data. The pixel value may correspond to color or another graphical attribute. The two-dimensional plane is stored or displayed as street side imagery or other path side imagery. An image file including the pixel value for each point of the optical data may be stored in memory or a map database.

TL;DR: This paper will demonstrate that this strategy produces stego-images that have minimal distortion, high embedding efficiency, reasonably good stEGo-image quality and robustness against 3 well-known targeted steganalysis tools.
Abstract: Digital steganography is becoming a common tool for protecting sensitive communications in various applications such as crime(terrorism) prevention whereby law enforcing personals need to remotely compare facial images captured at the scene of crime with faces databases of known criminals(suspects); exchanging military maps or surveillance video in hostile environment(situations); privacy preserving in the healthcare systems when storing or exchanging patient medical images(records); and prevent bank customers accounts(records) from being accessed illegally by unauthorized users. Existing digital steganography schemes for embedding secret images in cover image files tend not to exploit various redundancies in the secret image bit-stream to deal with the various conflicting requirements on embedding capacity, stego-image quality, and un-detectibility. This paper is concerned with the development of innovative image procedures and data hiding schemes that exploit, as well as increase, similarities between secret image bit-stream and the cover image LSB plane. This will be achieved in two novel steps involving manipulating both the secret and the cover images, prior to embedding, to achieve higher 0:1 ratio in both the secret image bit-stream and the cover image LSB plane. The above two steps strategy has been exploited to use a bit-plane(s) mapping technique, instead of bit-plane(s) replacement to make each cover pixel usable for secret embedding. This paper will demonstrate that this strategy produces stego-images that have minimal distortion, high embedding efficiency, reasonably good stego-image quality and robustness against 3 well-known targeted steganalysis tools.

TL;DR: An image file reproduction apparatus includes a reproduction unit that reads an image file from a storage medium storing image files capable of storing plural pieces of image data and reproduces the read image file as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An image file reproduction apparatus includes a reproduction unit that reads an image file from a storage medium storing image files capable of storing plural pieces of image data and reproduces the read image file, a first operation unit that receives a command for selecting any one of image files stored in the storage medium, and a second operation unit that receives a command for selecting any one of image data stored in the image file selected by the command received by the first operation unit. The reproduction unit controls selection of image data to be reproduced in a different way according to the operation made on the respective operation units.

TL;DR: In this paper, a programmable controller is used to determine whether an image capturing operation has been activated and to determine the extracted frame is valid/appropriate, if so, a header is appended, based on various video transmission standards such as NTSC or PAL, to extract frame data, thereby generating an image file.
Abstract: In order to capture digital moving image information supplied from a digital VTR (1) and to generate high quality still image data files, a programmable controller (4) executes program instructions to determine whether an image capturing operation has been activated and to determine whether the extracted frame is valid/appropriate. If so, a header is appended, based on various video transmission standards such as NTSC or PAL, to the extracted frame data, thereby generating an image file. The frame data following this header is then recorded on a recording medium (6), such as a disk, for subsequent signal processing by the programmable controller (4).
