TL;DR: In this article, a measure of the text in an image of a page is determined by comparing the measure of word density with the compressed image file size, which is then compared to one or more thresholds for determining legibility.
Abstract: Legibility of text in an image of a page is determined by comparing a measure of the text in the page image with a measure of the page image itself In one aspect, a measure of the text in the page image may be the height of a line of text, while the measure derived from the page image may be the height of the page image A text-to-page height ratio is determined and compared to one or more thresholds for determining legibility In another aspect of the invention, a measure of the text in a page image is obtained by measuring the word density in the page image, while the measure derived from the page image comprises compressing the page image and determining the size of the compressed image file Legibility is then determined by comparing the measure of word density with the compressed image file size

TL;DR: The transition into the digital arena for radiology education and interdepartmental conferences can be accomplished through several different paths, including direct transfer of images into a presentation program, as well as exportation of image file formats for later use.
Abstract: Purpose: The transition from hard-copy film to the picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) arena is often a long and difficult path, but the complete transformation to the digital environment does not end with the successful clinical practice utilizing PACS The next hurdle for academic institutions is similar changes in the teaching field The loss of hard-copy films can greatly hinder the radiology teaching file and teaching conference experiences The next step in our growth is the conversion to digital teaching files and conferences The original work 10 years ago with utilizing computers linked with laser disks and magneto-optical media, have now evolved into complex networks with expanding and relatively cheap storage media, such as CD-ROM and easily to navigate graphic-user interfaces such as hypertext markup language (HTML) and extensible markup language (XML) for use with multimedia teaching toolsConclusions: The transition into the digital arena for radiology education and interdepartmental conferences can be accomplished through several different paths These include direct transfer of images into a presentation program, as well as exportation of images into suitable image file formats for later use There is also the ability to expand the PACS network to include conference rooms Similar training and teaching can allow radiologists to transition into the digital environment for future digital teaching file creation as well as correlative radiology interdepartmental conferences

TL;DR: The Event-Associating Software Application for Accessing Digital Media (the “Software Application”) as mentioned in this paper consists of a Software Application designed to receive messages and digital media files from external sources, then to read and categorize each file's metadata based on events of which the person submitting the file has taken a photograph or a video, or recorded audio.
Abstract: The Event-Associating Software Application for Accessing Digital Media (the “Software Application”) consists of a Software Application designed to receive messages and digital media files from external sources, then to read and categorize each file's metadata based on events of which the person submitting the file has taken a photograph or a video, or recorded audio. The Software Application parses each file's metadata, looks up events in the System database to match with the digital media file, and associates those events with the message. The Application's parsing function generally comprises reading the metadata, splitting it up into component parts, and categorizing it in databases together with the message data, which consists of EXIF data (Exchangeable Image File Format data, such as time, location, and other related tags) encoded in photograph and audio files and user-generated text and tags that accompany the files.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for converting image data between planar format and chunky format is presented, where a barrel shifter sorts the image bytes by color plane for output to a plurality of memory cells.
Abstract: A method and system are provided for converting image data between planar format and a chunky format. A barrel shifter sorts the image bytes by color plane for output to a plurality of memory cells. Two addresses of each memory cell are not interconnected and function as a set of selection lines, whose binary values determine the number of positions that the data stored in the memory cells are shifted in response to the action of the barrel shifter. The sorted bytes are stored according to color format in the remaining, interconnected addresses of the memory cells. When the barrel shifter does not shift the bytes in a word, cyan bytes are stored in the memory cells. When the barrel shifter shifts the word one byte position, magenta bytes are output to the memory cells. Yellow and black bytes, respectively, are output for shifts of two bytes and three bytes, respectively. Each color plane is therefore stored in a separate memory cell and the chunky format data are converted to a planar format. This planar data may then be output to a printer. Further, the invention is bidirectionally operative. Thus, color-sorted bytes in planar format may be input to the barrel shifter and sorted to output the image data in chunky format.
