03 Jul 2008TL;DR: An image-sensing apparatus has an image sensing portion that acquires an original image by shooting a subject, an alteration processor that applies reversible alteration to an image inside a specific region in the original image to produce from the image an altered image, and a recording controller that records in a recording portion an image file in which the altered image is stored in association with restoration-oriented information that identifies the contents of the restoration that needs to be performed to restore the original images from the altered images as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this article, a two-dimensional code generation method for mobile communication system is presented, in which the two-dimension code can be automatically generated by the mobile terminal for a user, so that the application range of the 2D code in the mobile communication service is extended; and in addition, when the technical scheme of the application is applied to network service, the twodimension code information with the image format is not required to be transmitted in the communication network.
Abstract: The invention discloses a two-dimension code generation method, a user mobile terminal and a mobile communication system. The two-dimension code generation method comprises the following steps; obtaining text message with a predetermined format through the user mobile terminal; encoding the text message with the predetermined format to generate two-dimension code image information; and preserving the generated two-dimension code image information. By applying the technical scheme provided in the embodiment of the application, the two-dimension code can be automatically generated by the mobile terminal for a user, so that the application range of the two-dimension code in the mobile communication service is extended; and in addition, when the technical scheme of the application is applied to network service, the two-dimension code information with the image format is not required to be transmitted in the communication network, so that the limitation of the own functions of the network transmission mechanism and the mobile terminal to the application of the two-dimension code can be effectively reduced.

TL;DR: An architecture to achieve backward compatible HDR technology with JPEG is provided and efficiency of a simple implementation of this framework when compared to the state of the art HDR image compression is demonstrated.
Abstract: High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging is expected to become one of the technologies that could shape next generation of consumer digital photography. Manufacturers are rolling out cameras and displays capable of capturing and rendering HDR images. The popularity and full public adoption of HDR content is however hindered by the lack of standards in evaluation of quality, file formats, and compression, as well as large legacy base of Low Dynamic Range (LDR) displays that are unable to render HDR. To facilitate wide spread of HDR usage, the backward compatibility of HDR technology with commonly used legacy image storage, rendering, and compression is necessary. Although many tone-mapping algorithms were developed for generating viewable LDR images from HDR content, there is no consensus on which algorithm to use and under which conditions. This paper, via a series of subjective evaluations, demonstrates the dependency of perceived quality of the tone-mapped LDR images on environmental parameters and image content. Based on the results of subjective tests, it proposes to extend JPEG file format, as the most popular image format, in a backward compatible manner to also deal with HDR pictures. To this end, the paper provides an architecture to achieve such backward compatibility with JPEG and demonstrates efficiency of a simple implementation of this framework when compared to the state of the art HDR image compression.

TL;DR: A client/server system for reading, measuring and displaying color density of documents located on a remote file system accessed over a WAN such as the Internet is described in this article.
Abstract: A client/server system for reading, measuring and displaying color density of documents located on a remote file system accessed over a WAN such as the Internet. The color density information displayed corresponds to specific coordinates of documents that are located on the remote image file servers. The invention provides means for reading, displaying and recording color density measurements of original digital images located on remote image file servers rather than representations of these digital images stored on the user's local computer or LAN. A web server application on the server side functions to capture measurement requests from one or more client applications for measuring, sending, recording and retrieving color density measurements related to specific positions of specific documents located on an image filer server. On the client side a client software application functions to display the document that the user wishes to read color density information from and provides the tools necessary to permit the user to measure, send, record and retrieve color density measurements. Additional information regarding spot colors and position in a digital color book can also be displayed as requested by the user. Further, the user can record the results of the color density measurement by pressing an annotation button in the color densitometer window. In response, a note containing the color values is created and placed over the document.

TL;DR: In this article, a printer periodically sends a request inquiry command "Interrupt In" to a digital camera at a high rate, and the camera sends a printer status request, a print request, and a print stop request back to the printer as a reply to "interrupt In".
Abstract: A printer periodically sends a request inquiry command “Interrupt In” to a digital camera at a high rate. The digital camera sends a printer status request, a print request, a print stop request, and so on back to the printer as a reply to “Interrupt In”. Excluding the operation described above, the camera operates on the printer as a USB device of an ordinary storage class. Thus, the printer searches the directory in the camera and autonomously reads an image file or a print page layout file required for printing.
