TL;DR: In this paper, a history image folder (history image folder) is prepared for storing reduced image files and a favorite folder is provided separately from a folder for storing full image files which are created by a digital camera.
Abstract: A favorite folder (history image folder) is prepared for storing reduced image files. The favorite folder is provided separately from a folder for storing a full image files which are created by a digital camera. The full image file is reduced to create the reduced image file of a small memory size. The reduced image file in the favorite folder can not be deleted in a normal delete mode. Even though the full image files are transferred to another memory device such that of a personal computer, the reduced image files are used for searching or content confirming purpose.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a technique for storing and translating digital images of different native formats in a way that makes it unnecessary for independent manufactures of imaging devices such as digital cameras to agree on factors related to production/capture and processing of the images.
Abstract: Techniques for storing and translating digital images of different native formats in a way that makes it unnecessary for independent manufactures of imaging devices such as digital cameras to agree on factors related to production/capture and processing of the images. Image data in a native format and an associated method are combined as part of an image object, within the meaning of classical object-oriented technology, and transferred to the host system. An abstract machine, such as a virtual machine, in the host system acts as a virtual image processor and executes the method to obtain image data in a common format. The method in each image object operates on its corresponding image data to yield an image in a common format.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method and system for facilitating selection of stored medical image files are disclosed, where each medical image file comprises image data and a header comprising medical-image-file retrieval information.
Abstract: A method and system for facilitating selection of stored medical image files are disclosed. In one preferred embodiment, a plurality of medical image files are stored. Each medical image file comprises image data and a header comprising medical-image-file retrieval information. During image review, a user specifies medical-image-file retrieval information for at least one medical image file desired to be retrieved from the stored plurality of medical image files. Then, a set of medical image files is automatically selected from the stored plurality of medical image files based on the specified medical-image-file retrieval information. Other preferred embodiments are provided, and each of the preferred embodiments can be used alone or in combination with one another.

TL;DR: The Picture Archive and Communication System developed by Loral Western Development Laboratories and Siemens Gammasonics Incorporated utilizes an advanced, high speed, fault tolerant image file server or Working Storage Unit (WSU) combined with 100 Mbit per second fiber optic data links.
Abstract: The Picture Archive and Communication System developed by Loral Western Development Laboratories and Siemens Gammasonics Incorporated utilizes an advanced, high speed, fault tolerant image file server or Working Storage Unit (WSU) combined with 100 Mbit per second fiber optic data links. This central shared file server is capable of supporting the needs of more than one hundred workstations and acquisition devices at interactive rates. If additional performance is required, additional working storage units may be configured in a hyper-star topology. Specialized processing and display hardware is used to enhance Apple Macintosh personal computers to provide a family of low cost, easy to use, yet extremely powerful medical image workstations. The Siemens LiteboxTM application software provides a consistent look and feel to the user interface of all workstation in the family. Modern database and wide area communications technologies combine to support not only large hospital PACS but also outlying clinics and smaller facilities. Basic RIS functionality is integrated into the PACS database for convenience and data integrity.
