Abstract: Disclosed is an image recording apparatus which can re-allocate image data by removing vacant areas formed as a result of deletion when an image file is deleted from a recording medium of an image recording apparatus of a camera. The image data to be re-allocated are not limited to those in a new image file to be recorded, but include those in already recorded image files. Upon re-allocation, image data are re-allocated so that the track numbers of image files to be re-allocated on the disk sequentially increase.

Computer file directory system displaying visual summaries of visual data in desktop computer documents for quickly identifying document content

Abstract: A graphical user interface to desktop documents presents a visual display of visual summaries extracted from still image files, video image files, presentation slide documents, and word processing documents that include figures therein, in a computer file system, in response to a computer user requesting a directory listing. The user can select a visual summaries to cause the computer to search for files/documents containing similar images. The visual summaries can be presented in a hierarchy, with the top level of the hierarchy containing one visual summary per file/document, the next level containing visual summaries of all images in each file/document, and the lowest level containing visual summaries of each individual component, if any, in each image in a document. Further, for an alpha-numeric document having no images, the corresponding visual summary can be a visual representation of the appearance of a portion of the document, such as a portion of the first page of the document.

The apparatus uploads an image file generated by scanning, or an image file previously saved at the apparatus, using an application installed on the apparatus. The apparatus selects at least one of the image files generated by scanning at an image scanning apparatus connected to the apparatus, or previously-saved image files, and uploads the selected image file to at least one SNS site, using the application installed on the apparatus.

Apparatus and method for controlling a camera connected to a network

Abstract: A camera control apparatus provides an end user with environment to easily remote-control a video camera via a general network such as the Internet. When the camera control apparatus receives a file-transfer request described in the format of the network from an external device connected to the apparatus, it handles the characters in a character string of a file name of the request as a camera-control characters. As a result, if the character string includes a description corresponding to the format for camera control, the camera control apparatus controls the camera in accordance with the description to perform image sensing, and transfers the obtained video image as the content of an image file requested by the external device as the file-transfer request originator.
